I think i paid about 130 total for my PBR Dual Piston and Ceremic pads. I even had the PBR calipers shipped to me and the guy included the rotors that were practically brand new. He even threw in the lines too. Not that i need them or anything. But for a low cost option. It is going to make a World of Difference.

Everyone says stock brakes suck like you're gonna hit someone if you don't run out and buy Cobra brakes. I drive a damn Fox and manage to make it through 20 miles of city traffic everyday without coming near hitting anyone, watch where the hell you're going and quite trying to zoom through traffic like your Dale Jarrett and you'll be fine.

That's not the point.

The point is anyone who is anyone bought the car for one reason, to go fast. Going fast is great but when your flying down the track you want to be able to stop within a reasonable amount of time.

11" front disc and drum rear is NOT the way to do it. 94/95 has rear disc, not a huge difference. With the added pressure of a second piston - stopping ability is greatly improved.

Having better brakes is never a bad thing.

13" cobra brake setup is the best investment i ever made on my car. i upgraded the front gt brakes to cobras 13" and upgraded the rear
pads at the same time and the braking effort has dramatically decreased. Although i allow plenty of room between me and any other cars i may be following, given a split second situation where quick stopping is required, i would stand behind my 13 inches way before the wimpy 10.65 inches i used to have.......

No kidding.

There are however, actually people on this forum, who, not in racing circumstances, but rather just driving down the street, have rear ended people, and blamed it on the shitty brakes... It wasn't the brakes, it was the driver.

The OP simply want's to get his brakes back to where they should be, and everyone is throwing a 500 dollar upgrade at him like it's couch change or something.

I've had Cobra brakes before, and I'll have them again. Not because they are the best thing since sliced bread, when you get right down to it, they kind of suck, but because they are the cheapest cool looking 13" rotor shiny red caliper I can get on the car. The same reason everyone else get's them, whether they admit it or not.

Lol Thanks JR! I don't want to go crazy, I just want a little upgrade from stock for not much more than $100-$200. the pads are fine and I stop just fine with stockers, I just want a little better response. And JR is also right, if you keep a safe following distance and don't drive 20kph over the speed limit, you will stop in due time, I already have avoided some accidents by the stock brakes working decent, squeeling none the less though :p.

Just get good replacement rotors from your local part's store, and some good ceramic metallic pads, and you'll be happy, if not blingin behind the wheels.

Problem is, 1 rotor from the parts store costs $101, when I can get those drilled/slotted brembos for like $140 on ebay :p.

Way to generalize everyones statements. NOT everyone was throwing $500 upgrades at him. And no not everyone got Cobra brakes to have shiny red calipers. There are a few on these boards who painted them black. And then there are those who got them for performance FIRST and looks second. Like me. Next time try READING the posts and not just skimming them.

Look, COBRA BRAKES for $216! Thats far less than your $500 generalization....

hate to break it to ya but those caliper part numbers now sell for like $100-$115 so its not a $216 option anymore.....

oh and any time you replace rotors its recomended you change your pads.... why not just a decent set of stock rotors and pads front and rear until you can afford something better? no sense on wasting a couple hundred on inches.... rotors dont tend to do much and if you go drilled you'll prolly end up with cracks and on top of that you're just decreasing thermal mass which means as you use the brakes you'll prolly end up with fade and heat soak which will just warp them again, if you're affraid of warpage then just go ahead and get a brake cooling setup, some decent rotors (powerslot or dba?? brembos are great but they're also $$$) and decent pads, for a stock sized system thats about the best you're gonna get... maybe that and flushing the brake lines with fresh high temp dot 4 fluid

Hmm, 216 huh? Seemed a little on the cheap side to me, so I had to look for myself. Baring core charges, and sales tax, it comes out to 433.92, I guess that guy forgot he needs brakes on each side of the car....

there has been a recent rise in brake costs which can account for the $ difference but honestly, if you can just save you can get anything you want, its all in how long you're willing to wait, from my experience its usually worth it to do this as in the long run you'll end up replacing the cheap way a lot more often

I had no name drilled rotors on my Cobra brake conversion for like 25k and they never cracked, and I went to the road course twice.
