why must every 5 speed be in gear and are ya sure you havn't had any problems?

To keep it from rolling.
yes sir, no problems in the almost 5 years ive owned my stang, in fact i have contemplating about just pulling the handle and lines..

ah the brake is to keep it from rolling, gears are to make it roll. I can't remote start my manual unless I have it in nuetral.

My car rolled off of some ramps once. I forgot to put some wood behind the wheel.

So what's this e-brake recall?

I always leave the car in gear and use the e-brake. My daily driver is an automatic and I always use the e-brake in that too.

My ebrake cable is snapped...I always park mine in gear, I have no other options.

That would fail inspection here lol

Yep I had parked mine in front of my buddies garage thats on a slight hill. Had it in gear with the parking brake up alil (never felt like it held well), bout an our later I look out hi window to see my car sitting in front of his barn. On the way down it hit his Ranger and stopped on a old drit bike 3 feet from hitting his 91 GT, thankfully the bike and Ranger stopped it. All in all damage was somewhat minimal and no major sheet metal damage was done thankfully. Heres the after pic,

How do you find out what recals have been done and if they can still be done?

Here is the recall:

Manufacturer: FORD MOTOR COMPANY
Campaign Number, Case: 00V349000, 00S37
Defect Report:
Recall Initiator: ODI
Dates: 10/4/1993-10/10/2000
Date Owner Notified: 11/28/2000
Vehicles: 1994-2001 FORD MUSTANG
No. Vehicles Recalled: 3472000

Noncompliance: VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: PASSENGER VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH MANUAL
TRANSMISSIONS. IF A VEHICLE IS PARKED WITH THE PARKING BRAKE NOT FULLY
APPLIED AND NOT IN FIRST GEAR, AS DIRECTED IN THE OWNER GUIDE, AND THE SELF
ADJUSTMENT PAWL SUBSEQUENTLY SKIPS ONE OR TWO TEETH, THE VEHICLE COULD
MOVE ON SOME GRADES.

Consequence: THIS COULD RESULT IN UNINTENDED VEHICLE MOVEMENT AND A VEHICLE CRASH
WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING.

Corrective Action: DEALERS WILL MODIFY THE PARKING BRAKE CONTROL AND INSTALL A PLATE OR
OVER-BRACKET TO THE CONTROL TO LOCK THE SELF ADJUST MECHANISM IN
POSITION FOLLOWING ADJUSTMENT

When I bought my car from my buddy, I was driving it home and did not know the passenger side ebrake cable was rusted solid. It caused the brakes to drag and they actually caught on fire. Luckily it only fried the pads and caliper. That's when I unhooked the rear cables from the calipers. I don't like relying on just keeping it in gear to stop it from rolling. New ebrake cables from Rockauto are like $15 per side. They just came in a few days ago and I plan on putting them on when I replace my clutch.

how can you tell if yours has been done

If the handle pulls up real high, it's been fixed. If the handle only goes a little way up, it has not.
