Hey guys......I need some help/advice on what to do. My plan originally was to s/c my 96 GT and have some fun with it while i save for a MMR 900 shortblock but now im not too sure. My plan now was to just save for the shortblock now and maybe get a HPP TT system and do it right the first time. Im coming into some money finally and its not a huge deal but just wondering on if I did the MMR 900 block with some good stage 3 2v heads and custom ground cams would it be good with a TT or would it be overkill. I wasnt too sure on TT for awhile but I was thinking of just doing it right the first time.... I would deff. like some advice and very much criticise as much as you want to....smack some sense into me if im being uneducated.

and how are HPP for customer support and service?

thanks Kolby

Just watch yourself, a setup like that can turn into a very unstreetable car very quickly

If you can afford to go turbo... DO IT... more power per lb of boost FTW

^ +1, you just have to be willing to spend a lot. If you can afford it definately go for it. I hear tuning is a pain too.

I would probably just buy parts as the money comes in wait till you got everything and do it all at once. I know it sucks having to wait but it will save you alot of time and money in the long run. A TT system would be awesome I wish I had the money for that and I would defiantly get some type of heads and cams to go along with it and of course some forged internals. As for what type of parts I would call the person who you plan on doing the tune tell him you intentions for the car drag..street whatever and what numbers you are looking to get and I am sure he will hook you up probably even order the parts for you.

I think its pointless to do a TT unless you're looking for 500+ hp though. You can get 400-500rwhp through a S-trim or P1sc fairly easily for WAYYYY cheaper.

Very true...if this car is going to be your DD I probably would not go with a TT

Good call on supercharging it while you wait for the money and the build.
I've been in that boat for a few years now....

On a turbo combo, you don't want to radical of a camshaft. so watch out for that.
Porting the heads is a good idea, more air flow, or I should say, less air flow restriction = more power :santa_smiley:

You will want to look into a sheetmetal intake manifold if your going all out with a TT, it is the biggest restriction on forced induction combo's, on the 2V. IMO.

I really hope to see a build thread when you get into it.
I just recently got done building my motor, drivetrain, suspension and body on my car. Forced induction is next, and has been waiting for far to long.

Also consider that with over 500 HP, you will need to upgrade the transmission, rear end, sub frame, and do something with the suspension to keep the car straight, and get that power to the ground.

i say save ur money an do it right the 1st time, god knows how many times ppl have spent money on wanting to buy for an example and s/c, and then later on down the road they wanna go w/ a turbo or even n/a, just go w/ a tt kit, hell even if its a diy tt setup, its easier on the motor, an u can have a sleeper...well until u smash down on the throttle

So you mean to tell me you're going to spend TONS of money on a custom TT setup, just to limit those TT's to what 5psi and max the stock motor out at 400rwhp. Thats why alot of guys go s/c...because we dont have the money to buy shortblocks and throw as much boost at it as we want to!

yeah. im not sure on what to do still, but the car isnt my DD so its not a huge deal......however im still contemplating on the cheaper
route with a s/c but im not sure.......I just dont want to have to do things twice, cuz my luck my motor will go right after a s/c and im
gettin a new shortblock so why not just wait.......97stanger knows how often I ask him his opinion on what to do!!

haha yes i do! But if the car isn't your daily driver and you have the patience/money to get a shortblock and eventually a TT setup go for it man! You will make some nice numbers with them.
