has anyone ever had any other shifter other than the one you have now. What were the +'s and -'s of each.
I had a Steeda Tri Ax shifter on my first mustang and now I have one
on my current mustang. The Steeda Tri Ax is an excellent shifter for track
duty and from my research got outstanding reviews from mustang enthusiasts.
The Tri Ax is alittle bit notchy/crisp in between shifts but,has the most
solid feel in my opnion.I never once missed third gear with the Tri Ax or any other gear though
since it has a strong centering spring just like the MGW does and is very accurate when shifting.
I personaly really like the feel of the Steeda Tri Ax shifter and I would buy one again!

My friend that has a 97 GT has a MGW shifter in it and I got to drive his
mustang once to pick up his girlfriend from work and let me tell you this is a excellent
shifter also.It shifts as smooth as butter but,has a tight shift pattern.Me or my friend
never missed a gear with this shifter and has positive firm shifts. This shifter is ultra adjustable
and you can adjust to your liking.I personaly would rather have the MGW for street/highway
driving and shifts are too smooth for the track when powershifting in my opnion.Overall alot of mustang enthusiasts
also like the MGW shifter too.
In my research the only shifters that I seen that got worst reviews was the UPR and Hurst shifters

Steeda here and I've very happy. From alllllllllll the shifter threads I've read you can't go wrong with either one (steeda, Pro50, mgw). It's a matter of just picking one.

thanks for all the input but i was talking to a guy on this other forum and he said that pretty much all short throws are the same, theres not much difference. is this true?

Sigh, did you even bother to read my post above?

Pretty much ANY short throw is better then stock. Then again you can also just change the handle on the stock shifter and make it a shorter throw with a little less slop.

Seriously, the only two I would even look at for my car are Steeda Tri-ax and Pro5.0

On my t56 i have an mgw and it works great.

the black gt has a b & m sport shifter. its really smooth to me but isn't as short. works great also.

i just took out a hurst ssl? i think that's the name for them. i like it a lot too, just the springs in mine are worn slap out and the shifter doesn't want to move back to center on its own.

I have driven cars with Pro 5.0 and MGW, and my car has a Tri-Ax I like them all and would just let price pick between them.

I bought a mgw for me and my friends project 91 GT, it is basically what you want in any shifter, smooth as glass but heavy duty at the same time can't explain it. I drove my good friends 03 KB Cobra with in it too, didn't expect anything more or less, just an amazing piece. Can't speak for any other shifters but this one takes the cake.

have a steeda on my 96 cobra. little to notchy for my taste. pro 5.0 with steeda tri-ax handle in my 91 with a 86 t5 love it- less notchy compared to the steeda. and going with pro 5.0 in my 99.
Was thinking mgw, but the changing of shifter handles in mgw is limited to only one. so that is the only con I can see about mgw. but heard its smooth like stock.
hurst is way to short for me. in a 03 mach I continually kept missing 3rd. going 2nd to 5th all the time. only had the car for a month and sold it. was like a 1" lateral movement.
Had a fidanza with loose right springs, and tight left springs. hated it, before and after setting in different springs.

I've bought the Tri-Axe twice, but I've heard great things about the MGW and I'll probably try one next. Can't go wrong with either, as far as I'm concerned.
