like it says, im finally going to be doing it, ive been collecting pieces parts for a while, i picked up a clean 351 lightning motor, its the short block, my original idea was to be doing a stroker build, im not to sure on the way i want to go with it yet, i dont know if i just want to freshen it up with the .040 over forged pistons i have with new rings, bearings and such and leave the stock crank and rods alone or keep with doing a complete stoker build like a 408 i was planning, whats the stock bottom end on those things able to handle if i just use the forged pistons, im not building it for crazy power or anything, i was just going to use the x-heads i have now, find a lower intake for it to match my rpm 2 upper, i have a distributor for it and the oil pan conversion also, and im just going to find a good off the self cam; nothing crazy though, just a good street/strip cam, its also going to be a low compression motor also cause i have a supercharger thats also going on it, if the stock bottom end can hold a decent amount then i will just have fun with the stuff i have and not bother with doing a stroker

what happened to that 302 to 351 write-up thread, i cant find it

and also, i mentioned this in a another thread but not sure on it, but can i use the stock spyder lifter hold down thing from the 5.0 in the 351

Im doing a 408 build myself, trying to locate an early model block the start off with.

Just buy my 422 shortblock and be done with it. :)
oh if i had the money i would

you know about using the stock 5.0 spyper hold down for the lifters in the 351, its basically the only thing i really need besides a lower intake and cam, but i can pick that stuff up at anytime considering i live 10 mins down the road from summit

so anyone know about how much a stock bottom end can handle

Well, whats the price on that 422 Paul?

From what i have read, the block your using should be able to hold 600-700, depending on the rotating assembly and how high your gonna be spinning the motor
