I want basically all black interior.

I figure it will be cheaper and quicker to just spray my interior, leaving the seats potentially the only 2 tone stuff on the inside.

My issue is, the carpet strip on the doors. Should I leave it grey, or try to color it? If I color, how does one go about that?

Is it even worth it to spray the interior? Can it look that good? What paint would work best?

Thanks in advance for any info...

Most people will probably recommend the interior dye from LRS. I've used it before for some tan interior pieces but wasn't very impressed as far as the color matching. That may not be a probably with black though... it's kind of hard to mess that up. Personally, i'd probably just get new interior pieces, but there's lots of guys that have been satisfied with the spray and i'm sure you can't go too wrong with it.

the biggest part is in the prep and most people do not do enough to prep it. You would need to clean/scuff the plastic, use adhesion promotor and hope for the best but sooner or later it will scratch off.

Ya. I would do it right. Pull it all, and prep it. I just don't wanna deal with pulling the dash to switch it out.

JB did great on his interior, but when does he not do great on a car? (Other then selling the vert)

I am just tired of the two tone. I don't even want to keep the two tone seats, but will probably have to for now

Wait, what.........?

If you do paint it, make sure to protect the paint once it's done or get a high temperature resistant paint, because it may begin to flake in the summer if it sits in the sun for hours.

Honestly I wouldn't spend all the time prepping and painting so that hopefully it sticks and lasts. That's the reason I switched all my stuff to black. Even though the dash was a PITA I couldn't be happier with the switch

The PO sprayed everything from gray to black on mine. I have slowly gotten almost every piece replaced to original black.

So much better.

Cube, what pieces do you have left? PM me details and what not.

Ferocious, the only part I wouldn't pull is the dash. I would just tape it off and do the prep work that way

I took my last for from black/porno red to all black. Took a day and pulled out everything but the dash, cleaned, laid down a few coats and installed it all later that day. Make sure you have good light when you are painting so you don't get thin spots.

For under $20, it didn't come out too bad. Still needed some work on the carpet after I took the second pic.

I have indeed used the SEM products. They are great, never had a single complaint. Prep is very important on any interior piece, the silicon and stuff in armor all type products must be completely removed. I usually prep according to SEM, but I try to completly remove anything being dyed and soak in purple power degreaser to remove any and all residue.

no. There are fillers you can use, if its small enough bondo works or else check out a product called plastic weld. Mask off the areas you do not want exposed to it, apply it and let it dry then sand.

I would still just plan on replacing what ever panels you can, the dye will chip/scratch. G36 didn't mention that his door panels after the pain/dye was applied it relaxed the glue holding the vinyl to the doors which left it sagging. He gave them to me for shipping because I was going to cut them up and then modify and recover them so it didn't matter to me but they were worthless otherwise.

Hmm, this may be something to consider.... I have never attempted to dye anything such as the vinyl inserts or carpet that is on our doors. I have always been recovering them with a higher quality material and have put no thought into this. I can see this happening if you attempt to go to heavy with the dye, but there is a chance of it happening anyway I guess.
