let me see your roll bars

i'm sure there have already been threads like this but i'm looking for something more specific.

i want to do something a little different with my roll bar, but i also want to see how everyone mounted theirs. id like to see pics of where you welded them to the floor.

this is just a mock up but i am considering to do something like this; welding the roll bar to some custom plates on the torque boxes. not sure if this is the best idea or not but i think it would look clean

so lets see some pics and opinions

just a suggestion, if you cut the panel BEHIND the bar it would not stick out so bad. From the seat belt notch down rather then the bottom up.

in that case i would need to cut the roll bar down the middle and lengthen it about an inch. thats what i was going to do but i decided against it

I know that I will need to put a cage in mine to make it track legal but I can't see cutting up my interior to do it. I have yet to see a cage that looks like its supposed to be there.

cutting the panel from the top down would make no difference on the length of the bar nor need for the bar to be cut. It would just make the bar cover the cut made to slide it over the bar.

start at the top of the panel where the seat belt comes out and cut down into the hole you made. Now when you slide the cover over(from the front which would seem easier as well) the line you cut will be directly behind the roll bar.

i considered that and like i said, this is just a mock for now. my main point of this thread was to see where and how people are mounting their roll bars to the floor

I'm going to start mocking mine up this week. I started thinking about what was brought up...is there anyway to cut holes in the inner 1/4 panel trim without a huge line leading up to the hole?

A guy on here "KingCobra" I believe his name is, posted a thread about the cage wanting to get rid of it. I happened to be down in South Florida where he lived at the time, and picked it up for free!!

^thats a steal, great find. How did you get the holes in the panels and get the bars through without cutting the panel (if that makes sense)

you can use a hole-saw, or a dremel with a circle cutting jig to make the hole with out a cut up to it.

You can see on the top of the bar where it bolts in, I would suspect that was how he did it with out cutting the panel.

but think about it...

I understand how to get the hole in the interior panel. But the MM cages have a large metal square on the bottom of them. How would you get this through the hole without a slit?

The mm ones side on to the main tube I used a whole saw and cut a tiny slit I'll post pics in the am when I get to the
Shop mine looks pretty stockish

I slid my panels over the rear bars and had to get in there together was a pain
