Hey yall just got a quick question here that I would like some feedback on....I own a 97 SVT Cobra that the previous owner installed 04 GT springs onto and cut the front one's 1/2 a coil....Needless to say it rides like a covered wagon...anyway, I was contemplating ordering a set of eibach prokit springs off of ebay but wanted to know if I could just install the springs for now with an alignment, and then come back and do shocks/cc plates later? Im only wanting to go like 1.5 inches cause I still daily drive it and I think that would be plenty functional as well as look good....was just curious of the effects that might be caused by keeping the stock shocks/struts.....

1.5" is right at the limit for needing cc plates or not.
Some cars may need them at that drop, some may not.
You will need an alignment after replacement of both. Sooo do both at the same time and only pay for the alignment once. Unless it's going to be a couple of years between mods.

ive got a 98GT with H&R SuperSports, stock, shocks and struts, and stock CC plates. ive got the MM CC plates but the guys @ the place that did my springs and alignment said they didnt feel comfortable doing the aftermarket CC plates and they were able to get the alignment right with the stock CC plates. they just had to drill out the rivets. and it rides fine and handles ALOT better!

Is it gonna be ok for me to just do springs and not do shocks at the same time though?

You can do it but the ride won't be ideal and it'll wear the stock struts out faster. You don't NEED cc plates if you don't mind running a lil extra camber, but it's good practice to get them and like mentioned above if you get an alignment after the drop you'll just need another one after you do the CC plates also. Imo better to do them at the same time.

Sometimes you car will allow the stock rivets to be drilled out and Aligned properly. A shop will be able to tell you this.
