well i got my full exhaust in finally! :headbang: so i decided while i was in there i would go ahead and delete the smog pump while i was at it. well i removed all the lines and hoses from the pump and got them outta the bay, then i removed the 2 bolts the hold the smog pump to the pulley bracket and was ready for it to just come right off. but no. i always have to have the worst luck with cars. so ive spent the last 2 hours trying to work that thing back and forth, up and down, and which ever other direction i can manage to move it and still no luck. it looks like where the buttom stud bolt in, there is a sleeve or something that guides it all the way through. and i couldnt find anyway to get the sleeve outta there.

any suggestions, this thing is being a real PITA.

thanks for all the help in advance guys

You could just leave it there, the only advantage of removing it would be the weight. Just get a shorter belt and bypass it.

I bought the smog pump delete thing from UPR. The reason I deleted mine was nothing to do with the weight. Like a year after I bought my car, the smog pump locked up so it snapped my serpentine belt. No prob, the next time it left me stranded for about 2 hrs. I then thought it would not do this a 3rd time. Because I bought that pulley, it used the same belt. I think.

i had the same problem when i deleted my smog. u can try to it on the car or remove the whole alt. bracket to do this, but take a rubber mallet and pound it out. its easier to do off the car. u should definetly take it off it looks cleaner and it saves a few pounds.

My car did the same thing. I happened to be real close to home so I made it there no problem. Just got the shorter belt the next day and drove it with all the smog crap still attached.
