As most of you know I'm building a FFR Daytona Coupe with my father and I'm just about done pricing out components for the 331 stroker we're building for it. We'll be using twisted wedge track heat 170s (not cnc), Vic. jr. intake, 650 holly double pumper and 1.6 RRs. (there's a shit load more parts, but that's really all cam choice is based on) I think I know what cam we'll be using but wanted to get some opinions on it. The cam is 280/280 duration .560/.560 lift hyd. roller. I think it'll be fine but can't decide if it's over kill, what do you think? The car will be used mostly as a road warrior but track driven on occasion, (road course not drag, but you knew that already :p)
Thanks guys.

Personally I'd go with a bit bigger head the 170's are great on a stock bore 302. The 170's will choke the stroker a bit I have TFS fast a's cast 190's on my 347 stroker and a custom cam made to the specs of my motor.

good to know, thanks Musturd, I was thinking about AFR 185's but they are real pricey, what do the TFS 190's go for?

never mind I found the track heat 190's are only about $150 more than the 170's I'll probably go with those instead.

Sick there my dream car he cnc'd all the suspension out of aluminum this guys crazy worked for air Canada for years building planes. He just built a gt40 for himself.where he orders the shells from Canada has some bullshit law that you can't get bring it up as a complete roller. Or he was hassling with them. So he made everything from scratch. Including custom 3 piece wheels. The one dayatona I'm talking about wad at sema a couple years back

You want all of your motor components to work together. You want heads, intake, Cam etc to all work in the same RPM range. I had a 280/527 cam in a 351 C 4v and it made awesome power from 3500-6000. That worked great on that motor because it had huge ports and valves. I had to run real steep gears to get to that RPM ASAP with a 4 speed manual. I also had to run a vacuum can so the power brakes would work right. A high duration loses some of the intake manifold vacuum. You need to pick where you want the power band to peak and then pick your related parts to match that power band. Fred

Thanks framda, I'll definitely do some more looking, it's manual everything, so I'm not to worried about vaccum. That's probably what we'll end up doing Musturd, as long as it doesn't cost us a shit load
