Soo, I went to the track last week, here is my sole time slip. The car spun in 1st, 4k launch, my burn out wasn't the greatest, but it spun badly.. Mods are 4.10s, cobra motor, cold air intake, full exhaust, shifter, minor stuff, and ET Streets.

2.03 60ft
5.76 330ft
8.82 1/8 ET
80.22 1/8 MPH
11.45 1000ft ET
93.34 1000ft MPH
13.63 1/4 ET
105.17 1/4 MPH

It has Strange 10 ways in the rear, but it seems they only helped a tiny bit. How can I get this thing to hook?

Watching the video seems to indicate you are not getting any weight transfer to the back tires. The front never came up and the rear never squatted. What type of front suspension do you have?

I cut 1.6 and 1.7 60fts in my 94 with the cobra motor, Make sure you get good heat into the tires i ran mine at 18 pounds. I would start my burn out get it spinning than ease off the brake and let the car hook up and kinda launch you to the tree that way you know you got traction...And dont dump the clutch my best launch was around 3200...If you dump the clutch you will shock the tires and they wont bite!

You need to burn the hell out of those tires. Even with H&R race springs I had great transfer with my automatic car. You may have something bound up in your suspension.

let some air out like everyone is saying, maybe to 12-15 psi, and heat them up GOOD, I cut 1.5-1.6 60s on MT radials with eibach rear springs being my ONLY suspension mod.. and I dump the clutch at 4,500

Stock front suspension, only suspension mod is Strange 10 way shocks in the rear.

Pressure was set at 17psi, the are MT ET Streets, 26x10.5x15. I'm goin through the traps screaming in 4th at almost 6k RPM's, I hate it.

Yea, the burnout wasn't very good. Seems with 4.10's, I cant get the tires to spin fast enough to create some heat.

I'm gonna try a 2nd gear burnout next time.

You should be doing second gear burnouts. Don't let the car roll forward until you see smoke filling the rear view mirror. Get a line lock if it makes it easier for you.

I always do 2nd gear burnouts. You need wheel speed, not RPM. I've done 3rd gear burnouts sometimes for the first burnouts of the day. What are you shock settings? Change ONE THING at a time and test it....

I have the rear shocks set at 2.

Line lock? Heard of it, don't know what it is.

Its hard to do a burnout in this darn thing. As soon as the tires break loose, the ass end kicks way out to the left and theres no way to get it straight.

It locks the front brakes without locking the rears so you can modulate the throttle to do your burnout. Also called a "Roll Control" solenoid.

Drive through the water box (or back up into it, depending on your track). Spin the tires a few revolutions, get some water on the tires. Pull forward and stop. Pump the brakes, hold the pedal. Turn on the solenoid. Get off the brake. Put shifter in second, bring rpms up to desired, dump clutch. Hold, when you see a big could in your rearview (ignore the track retard, it's your burnout, not his), deactivate the solenoid and the front brakes will unlock and the car will roll forward.

This one is just the solenoid. The switch and light to indicate on/off suck anyway, a waste of money, get your own from the local parts store.

If you're running a 98, I found it's a bit more difficult for fittings, haven't found the right ones yet. One port is M12x1 and that's HARD to find.

i have a set of hoosier slicks and usuallly start with 12-13 lbs of tire pressure 4 the day. So im guessing that 17lbs of air is too fricken much!!!

with my et streets i get best results from 8 lbs and do a long burn out for about 20 secs or longer in second gear then just let off the brakes and roll till they grab.... gonna go back in the next few weeks and shoot for 12's.....

one thign with running pressures much less then 10 your gonna get alot of drag and these tires arent gonna ballon up or "grown" like they do on the high hp guys so your creating alot of rolling resistance. im also assuming you dont have a tube in your tire/wheel set up. good luck on 12's its nice im sitting at 12.66 now and im looking for 12.5's soon

I'm not sure I'd be really comfortable slowing down from 115mph on the big end on a tire with only 8psi and 60psi in a 4.5" wide skinny...eek!

yea its an intersting feeling at 100 at 10pis and no tubes, the whole car just wiggles slowly lol, as far a s slowing down its not as bad as you would think my fronts are 4.5 so and i only trap 110 so im not that high in mph yet

Yea, better burn out should cure this problem.

My goal is for 12's without spray. This obviously isn't gonna happen with the few mods I have (exhaust and gear). But I think with a 1.8 60ft, I can get in the low 13's. Prolly throw a cam in it and see some high 12's.

I'll try 13psi. I always kinda figure to keep as much air in them as possible, without losing traction.
I need to find a set of used front runners, so I can put my matching front rims on.

Also, a tip I've learned, and works great:

Angle your side mirrors so they are pointing at yer rear tires. That way when you do the burnout, not only can you see the smoke, it's a good way to tell if both tires are turning.
