i rented the tool from az. didnt work cuz the threads were all striped. i bought a tool and still cant get the damn thing off?! :rant2:

so what am i doing wrong, is there something im missing here?! heres the tool i got..

Nothing should thread into the PS pump shaft when you do it. You should only be using the jackscrew, the big nut, the clamshells and the collar.

The threaded insert things are for installing the gear, not removing it.

I have that same tool from Jegs, i used it on a UK spec Focus last week, it worked perfectly, just make sure its assembled correctly.
