okay, well i had my timing chain cover, valve covers, and upper intake powder coated satin black for my engine rebuild. The plaques got discolored in the baking process, turning them gold. So i decided to get the gold material off with some nail polish remover.

Help me out and tell me what you guys/gals like better between these two. first pic is how the upper intake looks now, second is just a photoshop.

another idea: spray all the background around the snake black, that will make it stand out more.

man you mod guys have some weird looking parts.
BTW, gold looks better but doesn't fit with the rest of the car so go silver

Gold looks way better and you gotta choose it because it was destiny!

Silver.

I would've sanded the parts some more before coating too, and probably went with a sheen or gloss black too, or perhaps another color altogether. It looks like the powder they used doesn't lay as flat as some I've seen. The gunmetal gray color I often use doesn't lay as flat as the mirror black.

There's some outgassing on the valve cover - it sucks because sometimes it doesn't seem to matter how long you pre-bake a part, you can still get stupid outgassing in the finish. It drives me nuts.

Looks cool man - glad you decided to get it done.

Paul.

I actually like the gold Snake. It makes it stand out a lot and you know you will never see it again. It doesn't exactly match everything else, but at the same time, its not like its purple, it works good IMO.
