Wrench slipped while I was changing oil... thumped my elbow on the car and split myself open pretty good. It was bizarre.

Very nice! I would like to get into this, but I don't think there is that large of a market here and don't wanna get into it unless I can make a little $$ at it.

I've been doing a bunch of work for my friend's 1984 Mercury Capri RS Turbo. Here's a couple of pics of what it looks like as of yesterday:

You couldn't drag me kicking and screaming into those kind of temps. There are plenty of 1 and 2 acre lots available right across the road from me. Go ahead and move down. :)

I think I'm going to try a set of valve covers in candy red translucent. I'll post pics when they're done.

You don't get any more stuff until you install the valve covers I sent you!!! :violent1: :eek:ccasion14:

pays to be a friend of yours.

LOL - it's all give and take. Lots of folks have helped me out too over the years. That engine belongs to my best friend. He's made me countless custom made billet things over the years - he's got two CNC mills in his garage! (He made that timing pointer too)

Thanks! That's what I'm going for!

The ENTIRE motor is powdercoated. Everything. Even the block and cylinder head. We went off the deep end a bit with this one. LOL

Maybe start getting stuff for cheap, powder coat to experiment, and sell for profit on Ebay.
I blasted a ton more crap today, including a complete 94-95 5.0 accessory drive setup with EVERYTHING. I may just sell that on eBay.

Paul.

Ok... tell me more about those 94-95 pieces....I think you posted that to grab my attention. :D
I just finished pulling a bunch of crap off my stroker car over the weekend in preparation for teardown and was looking at how difficult it would be to do all that stuff. But if I can exchange them plus cash I'd be open to the idea. Although I dont think my tensioner is worth a crap.... anyway, Those coolant crossover tubes in the picture look incredible. What was done to them? Were they just media blasted and then coated in matte black?

What's the normal temperature powdercoat can withstand?

Most powdercoat cures around 400 degrees, and high temperature stuff even higher than that. If you want crazy heat resistance (like for the hotside of a turbo) then 2000* ceramic paint is the way to go.

I'd probably be willing to sell mine to you, then have you send me yours back in exchange. The cost would depend on how much sanding/prep you wanted done first, and what color you wanted.

The coolant tube was just blasted and coated matte black. I did that for my notch too and it looks cool as hell. I did my coil bracket, hood latch, bumper cover supports, and other various things in flat black to match too. :) See, here's my motor for the notch:

One mroe thing Paul, did you coat the black pulleys on the tensioners too?

Nope, those are just plastic. I've done pulleys before though.

Hah! No way, I'm a bank auditor! I just do this stuff in my garage for fun.
