Looks good man! Can't wait to see the finished product. I'm still tore between what I want to build..... 4.6 2v, 4.6 4v, 5.4 2v, 5.4 4v...... Tooooooo Many decisions.....

Although money will be a deciding factor. lol

Got that right........ stock bottom end 5.0 and a Vortech would be plenty for the street.

I really like this build, its like a dreamer thread only you are doing it!

Did you purchase a rotating assembly yet? If not i'd suggest not getting a stroker as it will not serve much of a purpose except being able to say its a 5.0
They don't really add much power on 4.6 and with all that boost you don't need the minimal extra TQ you would gain from it.
If you are dead set on having one though get it from Livernois, their kit is the best of the bunch in my opinion.

How is the block? They finish all the work?

I want the stroker for the sole reason to say im different :) The cobra assemblies are quite expensive, so i might as well pony up to the bar and get some CIs out of it while im writing the check :p lol.

The block is coomin along nicely. They have the welding done (transmission ear) with the helicoil in (transmission ear) and it went from my head shop over to the machine shop. My head guy took my block to the only guy in town with teskid deck plates :p hes going to order all the ARP parts soon.

He looked into the block yesterday and its all clean and ready to go. lol.

Its a very expensive build, so most gear heads stray away from something like this. ... They would prefer get the same performance for half the price out of a pushrod and a turbo. lol.

and i fixed that first post... ;-)

Why would it cost more for a Piston/Rod set for a Cobra Block? They are the same as GT stuff.... only difference is the bearings are for aluminum block. Don't let someone rip you off thinking there is a difference. When i ordered my pistons/rods it was for a 4.6 and not Cobra or GT...all the same stuff.

Do your research carefully before you buy the forged internals and ask around what works. If cubes is what you want then having the Block Big Bored is the way to go... it will actually gain HP/TQ.

I'd personally stay with the @ stock bore and stock rod length for longer reliabilty.

you really cant big bore a teskid block without making it weak. mine was bored 20 over and when i had it done the machinist said that the max you could go is 30 thousandths. if you are after cubes you should look into MMR's 351r modular block, accepts 2v, 3v, and 4v heads. its 5.8l with the stock 5.4 crank. its on their website (modularmustangracing.com) part #444135.

Not true, most of the time anything over 30 is going to require the cylinders to be sleaved. Its quite common in aluminum blocks and even the ever so special Teksid.

Nice build, I will be following along as you build it. I built a stroker 4.6 for an 05 GT with a procharger on it, we got 720 rwhp out of it. we did a lot of testing with it before we installed the blower, engine picked up about 20 hp I believe from the stroker alone, then of course a huge amount of power with the blower. It still has stock heads and cams. So it was an apples to apples comparison. There is a little power there, just not as much as a 5.0 would gain. I think with the 4V heads you are running you will see maybe a little more power with the stroker engine. good luck with the build!

lower intake will be port matched to the kenne bell upper intake.
the heads will be 100% built by a local shop (Heads By Drew) He's a major ford guy. Full rebuild with his custom grind and custom port.

thanks bro. im shooting for a cherry motor... something that starts up every turn of the key. lol.

For a forged set up with stock dimensions i would go with a FRPP cobra kit. And they are pricey. so i might as well go with aftermarket and stroke it. although stock stroke and bore is more reliable, I have no choice but to bore out the cylinders, even a little, to return it to a perfect circle cylinder. After boring it, i might as well push for a stroker kit since ill have to run custom pistons anyways.

My only other option is to buy a fully assembled engine or shortblock somewhere, in whichcase I wont learn as much about building motors...

We are doing the minimum on the bore for this exact reason. If it turns out to be too extream, I will bore it to the last inch of its life and sleave the motha trucka.

A Big Bore on a Modular is not just a boring the production block to insanely thin wall specs but actually replacing the cylinder linings with better steel sleeves that can be bored to make a 3.70 bore size or roughly 5.0 liters without adding more stroke to an already long stroke engine.

Teksids are the most common block to do this on.
