Is it better to go with a roller cam or a flat tappet cam? What would the advantage be?

Also with roller cam I would have to change drive gear on distributor correct or the camshaft would get eaten the drive gear off the end of the camshaft and sends tiny particles of metal through out the engine? So I'd have to get a composite gear

roller is better for longevity BUT that doesn't mean if you have a tappet motor that you should change to a roller. changing over is costly. you only have to use the composite or a bronze (cheaper) gear if you are using a solid lifter (flat tappet or roller) but whatever cam you get it will list what gear is required.

its possible but i would check the lifter valley as they would have had to drill it for the dog bone hold down piece

Ya he had talked about a spider plate that has to be bolted to the block to hold the roller lifters from turning as the engine runs.

I need to find a small base circle cam can't really find anything good for performance and will sound aggressive any recommendations
