If this was going to be a weekend warrior, then go for the turbo. IMOP, if it's going to be a DD, then just stroke the motor. Less parts overall = less to wear out or eventually break during daily use. Plus, when you do decide to boost with a turbo you'll have more cubes to puff through = more power.

i agree with the stroker. For a DD i dunno how well your motor would do over time, but im not a tuner or nothin so dont take my advice

well you COULD do both. It'll be reliable if its done right and will last if the tune is safe. But really I would just rebuild the short block with forged pistons and rods leave the cast crank. Get a turbo kit with 8-9 lbs of boost and have fun with it.

If it was me I would bore it out to a 306 (for reliablity reasons). Then trickflow makes a top end kit that I would buy you get :heads, cam, upper and lower intake, and valve covers for $2500 which imo is a good deal. Then I would probly put a smaller shot of n2o in it and call it a day.

i was actually thinking of doing a 306, with the trick flow top end, and the cartech street sleeper turbo kit w/ t-61

Turbo, regardless. You cannot go wrong with positive pressure. one of my best friends has a Hellion kit on his 92 GT and he saw an increase in gas mileage, which is common. Which we all know would be nice!

i just dont see the point in a s/c :dunno:
well s/c's are tried and true. they can make big numbers so I see a point with them. But turbo's are the future and with that being said I think its hard to argue that they are the best.

The point of a s/c is more power. :hammer:

But turbo vs supercharger, turbo will have more power with a little better fuel economy. However, a supercharger install is typically cheaper, quicker, simpler, and most kits are CARB certified (if that matters to you). So, if you got the tools, time, and if your state is lax on emissions, go turbo.

Absolutely.

I have said it before, and I will say it again. Turbo's are VERY finicky. They will work perfect one day and the next day run like shit, even if it is a HP/Cartech/Turbo Technology, Hellion etc...

Unless you have a lot of money to play with and a lot of time to fix head gaskets etc. If you want boost, you wanna go with a supercharger.

Buy a Supercharger and be done with it.

I'm sorry, but how is 10 psi from a blower different on head gaskets than 10 psi from a turbo? I'm not clear on that one. I'm pretty sure the motor doesn't know the difference.

Everyone knows belts are made to hold up your pants, not add more power to your car.

As for turbo cars being "finicky", I've got 3 close friends with turbo Mustangs. Dave's 92GT is stock intake to oilpan with an explorer intake with a Hellion kit and a 70mm on it, it has no problems. Luke has a 92 LX witha 331 dart block with a B&G kit on it, 76mm turbo, no problems with it. Luke's lil brother Joshua has a '01 GT with a Hellion kit, 62mm turbo, only mods other than the turbo kit is a catback and Accufab plenum. Joshua is 17 years old and drives the car daily. It makes a little over 450whp/500tq. The only way I could see them being "finicky" is if you had some crackhead tuning it. If you have it done by someone with experience that knows what they're doing, you won't have any problems.

Replace your factory headstuds with some ARP pieces and a good headgasket when you boost it and you won't have any problems I'm more than sure.

Im all for turbos and the power it can provide...no doubt turbos will make more power than superchargers

However....for daily driving and the simplicity of it...i would go with a Vortech V-2 as they are very reliable and quiet. No matter how well the car is tuned, turbos produce a lot of heat and also the coolong system has to be upgraded. All of this adds up to a lot of money at end.

Im sure your friends spent a lot on those setups...specially that 4.6
