Sounds like an axle bearing.

What sounded like an axle bearing to the far far right of my car apparently, isn't. I replaced it two weeks ago, and the noise returned the day I finished replacing it. So I'm fairly content in saying that wasn't it. I was told that it could be the brake, but I don't know what I should check. I'm fairly sure I need new pads back there, just because I don't know how long the previous owner had them on for, along with the front pads, but I'm not sure if I'm going on a wild goose chase.

You can tell that it's in the rear. It's pretty loud, but can be fairly droned out if I keep RPMs above 2k or have my radio just above normal listening volume. :hammer:

worn brake pads shouldn't be making noise except when braking. did you look at the bearing on the ring gear while you were in the diff. maybe the noise is traveling down the axle and out the wheel.

I tried not to mess around in the diff any more than completely necessary. How can I check it?
