Starting a budget build

I am gonna to start a budget build with my tax money. I want some good ideas or any suggestions. Here is my setup i have a Stock 95 5.0 cobra motor in the car now. (the miles are getting up there) I am running a S-trim around 8 to 10 pounds. I want to get a 5.0 block to build so i can do a weekend swap and minimize down time. What are some good rings, head gaskets, cam, and a good girdle to strap the bottom end? I want to find a stock 87-93 block so i can have some forged internals to work with is this a bad idea? Any tips, ideals, or thoughts would be nice thanks!!!

d.s.s. has short blocks start at 1600 but the better one is 2100 both have forged pistons ect..

Just swap in a 4.6...

i tried the same deal... It aint so budget....

Got a ford strokers block, and CHP 306 kit... But where im running into the money is shiit like fuel injectors cracked, bolts not working gotta buy new ones, crap like that and thats eating away my wallet...

On corral in the for sale section I saw a couple fox motors for sale... complete, for around 300 bucks, depending on your budget,
it doesnt get much cheaper than that. Yes it wont give you the power output of a 331/347, but with your charger on it, it probably
goes pretty good already, so forged internals would be piece at mind, and a rebuilt motor should give a little more pep.
Oh and im pretty sure the forged internals were from 87-91, not positive, maybe someone else has a definite answer on that. But
It really comes down to how much money you have to work with, whats your budget?

my budget is whatever i just dont want to tie alot of money up in my car right now i am trying to save for a house. i mostly want a new motor that i can depend on and know that it is strong a can hold up. i dont like knowing i am beating on 14 year old ring and head gaskets. My thoughts are stock forged interals, strapped bottom end, good rings and head gaskets. I am mostly looking to find out a good girdle, ring, and head gasket combo.

i just bought a fox block out of a 89 gt, for 500 got complete rebuild never started basically came with everything except heads and intake... which i plan on buying... heads i already got and intake.

Never heard one thing bad about them. Seem to be very stand up guys. I would go with them

Block girdles don't do anything. Save your money.

Any halfway decent ring set will work. Sealed Power, Childs & Albert, etc...

For headgaskets, a nice set of Fel-Pros will be fine. You could also do a multi-layer-steel gasket from either Fel-Pro or Cometic.

Then why not just pick up a 351 roller and just throw some heads on there. You can easily obtain 375 -400 rwhp NA

Not really. 400 rwhp naturally aspirated is harder than you think, even with 351 cubic inches.

well i am sure he would be able to extract more power from a stronger starting point....then a 302 that has just been freshened up. If he wants something budget Wouldn't that be better??

To an extent yes. The problem with a Windsor as a starting point is all the other stuff you have to spend money on to make the swap. It's tough to do a budget windsor build.

I couldn't agree more Paul.

Such a waste of money...

If you lose the block everything is going to get chewed up. If you lose a rod its all going to be chewed up. All a girdle does is just keeps the pile of mess in one pile of shit.
