Re: throw out bearing

I figured your car was stock. You will have no problems with a king cobra clutch. They have little bit heavier pedal presure than stock and it bites better. Good luck.

Re: throw out bearing

Your clutch needs to be replaced.... Go buy one and replace it.

Word of advice, Whenever one part of the clutch system (A bearing, a Clutch Disc, Whatever), you need to replace the whole clutch system.

Since you need to remove the tranny to replace the clutch (time consuming job) is more cost efficient to just replace everything thats down there. Clutches are designed to break, thats why they are so cheap.

You need to take it off and have the flywheel at least resurfaced. If you replace it you could get a Lightweight one if you choose.

ok guys so i was out today and i swung by the ford dealership for a few minutes. i asked for a price for labor on replacing the TOB and he said $650. $650?! thats rediculous. id rather do it myself. king cobra clutch upgrade would be $350 there. i guess im gonna have to do this...

Yeah but i was trying to ride it out till i was going to pull the motor out and do it all at once. Can't blame someone for not wanting to do something twice.

well then couldnt you just grease it? or is it just not that simple...

Sealed :) not that easy :)

You ought to see the Needle Bearings in Pinon Bearing

There are no needle bearings in a pinion bearing. Its a tapered roller bearing.

To the original poster, IF you're tight on funds, want to learn how to work on your own stuff, have a sucker for a friend or a strong back, and can afford to sacrfice a couple days to do it. You CAN do this yourself and just replace the throwout bearing...provided you don't find anything else wrong in there when you do take it all apart. IF you can afford to do it, replace the clutch. If not, you can get by with just a TOB
