Make sure you have a fuel pump priming. A buddy went through something similar a while back at the track, his inertia switch somehow triggered.

If plugs are wet fuel delivery can be ruled out. Have you verified that your actually getting spark at the plugs? If no spark possible coil, dizzy or tfi failure. If you have spark at the plug then go back and recheck timing. ( pull no.1 plug, put a pencil down in cylinder while rotating motor by hand. When you see the pencil come to its highest point your at TDC) Balancer should be at 0 at this point. ( If not bad balancer)
If your at 0 your good, rotate by hand till 10btd stab dizzy so rotor is pointing to no.1 on dizzy. Start car hit with timing light 12-14 btd call it a day.

You may have flooded the cylinders on your previous attempts. JFYI holding the throttle to the floor while cranking will cut fuel delivery an clear the flooded cylinders.

Finally found the issue and got the car running!

The dizzy did end up being 180* out. I'm not sure how I got it back that far off from the first time it was there, but I did. I wasn't noticing it because I didn't have any backfiring which was just because the car was flooded out. I held down the gas pedal like 95opal recommended, and the backfiring was back. Stuck the dizzy back around and it fired right up. Car's idling at 1800ish rpms, pretty sure I've got a vacuum leak somewhere, but I'm just glad I've got it running. Gonna change the oil, let it cool down from taking it down the road and back and top off the water, and hunt down the vacuum leak and be driving it tonight.

Thanks a lot guys for all your help. Def wouldn't have figured it out without yalls advice.
