Hmm I have a short block that needs freshening up....

Get your block Vatted ( Chemically Cleaned) is about 40 dollars , Crank turned (Polished and Ground ) 80 dollars and Recondition Rods are 40 dollars for all 8 . Boring is about 25 dollars here for all 8 Cylinders . Then you just need to get your rods and pistons pressed and thats 40 more . so total your at 225.00 . Then all you need is a quality rebuild kit depending on how much forged or performance you go price varys and then your heads , pushrods , intake , carb , headers , oil pan , all assembly bolts , waterpump , power steering pump , alternator , brackets and belts . Its pridefull and fun knowing you built your own but I have learnt its cheaper to just buy it already done and its alot ALOT less stressfull depending on what your attempting lol . Stay thirsty my friends

Those prices are the going rate here in Tennessee and most southeastern states they all kind of set a price and dont cut each others throats , seeing how much cousin owns a machine shop and has owned it for 25 plus years . If your up north then hell a big mac meal is 15 dollars LOL dont expect any thing less.

im not and was not trying to misinform anyone on prices , but that is the going rate down here and mostly all around here , I have not ever heard of anyone charging or anyone paying much more than that for simple machine work .

Im in Charlotte NC. I guess way to get an idea of prices is to call some local machine shops. But thanks man....Im looking to freshen up a mark 8 bottom end for a little N/A build.

cool deal man . I wouldnt think prices would be that different seeing we arent that far in distance but your in a bigger city as well .
