Trip Meter and Oil Temp gauge not working.

Just bought a 96 cobra and the oil temp gauge and trip meter dont work. Is this a common problem and/or can it be easily fixed? If not I guess i could just buy a oil temp gauge and mount it somewhere, the trip meters not a big deal.
