The shop is sourcing them. Definitely NOT anything eBay!
And they will have clear lenses, no pattern at all.

I’ll definitely post more info and pics once they’re in and I can better describe and explain it all…

I would get a look at them before they buy and install them. There are not nearly as many good looking/performing lights as there are JDM-looking halos that have a horrible output. I too am curious how the lens was the problem. If that was the case it could have probably been polished.

I just bought a 95 GT. The fog lamps "didn't work". Turns out it was the switch. If you jab it hard enough, the power light on the switch comes on and the fog lamps come on. I just have to stab it with some "authority" to get it to click on. Otherwise, it rocks to the on position but nothing happens. It's likely just dirty contacts, being 28 years old. I will probably replace the switch eventually. But the easy test is to check for 12V at the switch inside the console. If you have it, then it's the switch.

As for one light being brighter than the other, my first thought is a headlight went out, and someone replaced one bulb without replacing the other one. Incandescents will sometimes dim with age. Plus there are different manufacturers. Always a good idea to replace both lamps at the same time.

No, I always replace both bulbs.

Wednesday morning I have an appointment to get the LED/Halo’s installed. Will definitely post with pics

Hearing back from the shop today to schedule installation. Had to send first set of bulbs back. New ones are in; just scrambling schedules to set an appointment! Getting anxious

I still don't understand this. You're paying a shop to install new bulbs and headlight housings?

They are the ones that diagnosed that was the problem with the weak output so I think it is kind of the deal where they want to fix it since they charged for the diagnostic.

I know! On the surface it sounds stupid because even I can (and have, previously) swapped out housings and bulbs. But, there’s a lot more that’s being done, including rewiring So I have daytime running lights and all possible combinations of lights/ambers/fogs, etc. it’s basically going to be a setup comparable to today’s lighting systems!
And, true to their integrity, the price, which includes diagnosis, all labor necessary and the lights, has not changed. Same price as quoted.

Sort of, but not entirely...
The initial diagnosis after I took it in because of the weak output which I noticed, required some rewiring for the upgrade to a full LED system. However, as you’ve seen in the picture prev posted, the LED bulb and stock lense/housing combo shed a funky light pattern. So, the solution is a CLEAR lense with the LED bulbs. Unfortunately, when they sent the LED housing and bulbs, they sent the wrong bulbs! Not my shops fault. New, correct bulbs were sent and finally received at the shop and now we have to make the appointment for the install and aiming.
sounds convoluted, I know. But, trust me on this one, I have full faith and confidence in the shop. They’ve only had the patience to go thru all these iterations because they know that I will settle for nothing less than what’s expected AND they would never compromise a product that comes out of their shop. These guys area needle in the haystac. That is why I remain patient with them, as 100% perfection and satisfaction is their standard.

Can’t wait to show you guys. Then you’ll see (literally!) what I’m talking about. Cheers!

It’s hard to find shops that are worth a hoot that actually care about what they are doing. I’m sure they will get you fixed up.

What are they "rewiring"? Are they just replacing the pigtails at the housings?
What are they charging for labor?
As far as I know, the SN95s dont need any upgraded wiring to run LED headlight bulbs. They are plug and play as far as wiring goes.
What headlights are they/you using? Who picked them out? Are they designed for LEDs?

I'd love to see a copy of the parts/labor paperwork when it's all done.

I don't know if it has been mentioned, but there is a mod to make your fogs work with just the parking/running lights. It's pretty straightforward, just swapping two wires in the harness at the console. Kind of a PITA to do if you're bigger or have sausage fingers like I do, but it is doable in just a short time.

I’m anxious to get this done. Then I can answer all questions and speak more intelligently to the replies! Thanks everyone for your input and interest.

Best,
Daryl

I ask to take a pic of the wiring just because the worst wiring disasters I have ever seen done were done by mechanics.

Of course then as I typed that I remembered that some of my wiring was not good enough and caught fire last year. I will stand on the ground that I was just not use to running wires outside the car and there are some different rules for that.

I hear ya! Wiring? You may as well speak Russian to me!

But these are electrical specialists, not “mechanics” like turn-a-wrench mechanics (not that there’s anything wrong with that!LOL). So, I have every confidence in them and I’ll certainly let everyone know the results.
