I was installing the springs on my car the other day and when we were unbolting things to lower the rear end I came across something Ive never seen on a car and am wondering what they are and if theyre stock.

Connected to the rear portion of the axle tube end is a small shock and the other end is bolted to the body. It doesnt look like it is an aftermarket deal but both sides have it and i dont know what they are or what theyre for.

Anyone know?

they are also found on other ford cars (mercury and lincoln)

maximum motorsports suggests leaving them in place, if they can still properly function on your suspension.
