I have a 94 cobra with full exhaust, dr's, cai, 4:10 gears, pullies, throttle body, and shortthrow shifter. I want to get into the the high 12 second to low 13 second range in the 1/4 mile what should my next mods be. I have a 1,000 to spend. Ps I dont really want to spray it. Thanks

Get your intake ported by Tmoss and look into a cam maybe even a custom cam. The heads are gonna be the tough one. I mean its not gonna give you as much of a kick in the pants as if you were going from E7 heads to trickflow or AFRs. But if you can swing spending the extra money or find a killer deal on some used aluminum heads do that too. Sticky tires and maybe some LCAs to help you get a lower 60ft time right now.

All else fails you can do nitrous and get the Tires/suspension stuff and run low 12s haha.

Intake, 1.7 rockers, and 1 5/8 headers (mentioned exhaust but did not know if that included headers) with $1000, but the NOS will be best bang for your buck if looking to go deep into the 12's. :thumb:

Thats A good idea to use the $1000 wisely and have money left over....change the timing chain as well while the cam is being swapped, and install new lifters if the old ones have a lot of mileage etc....

I vote for the Tmoss port and some heads. Used Tf's or Edel's. Sell your gt40's to recoup some of the loss. OR, save a little more and get a used Vortech.

Suspension Suspension Suspension. And get the computer tuned a bit. The stock Cobra HCI is 12 second capable, I've seen the timeslips to prove it. A buddy I used to work with did a 12.9 in a full weight bolt on only 94 Cobra on street tires. That man could DRIVE though...

Get yourself a better suspension setup and some sticky tires and you'll break right into the 12s. If you MUST do some internal work then this is what I'd do. Grab any 5.0 explorer/mountaineer lower intake(doesn't matter with 94/95 cars if you use the 1st or 2nd gen intakes since we run external EGR) from the Corral or ebay or wherever and send that directly to tmoss to get ported. In the meantime grab a Crane 2031 cam and when the intake comes back from tmoss do the cam/intake at the same time. Then sell the lower you pulled off to recoup some of the money spent. After you sell your stock untouched intake you'll still probably have $600 out of the $1,000 to work with and this will buy you a set of Bilsteins all around and some HR springs.

But you really don't need to mess with the HCI although the car will sound pretty badass and since the GT40 heads are actually worth something you'll see a noticeable gain. Like I said suspension alone will get you into the 12s. Sticky tires will help alot too though.

Doh, didn't see that he already had DRs... Um if you've got DRs and those mods on a 5.0 Cobra then just Practice Practice Practice. Powershifting will keep that stupid tip in retard from being an issue.

Ever consider buying a tweecer? The J4J1 cobra computer really is ass in stock form but a good tuner can make it sing.

I dont think H&R springs, at least the super sports would be good for drag racing. They are pretty stiff on the rear.

If anything let tmoss port your intake and heads. Then upgrade your springs and get a new cm. It'll wake you're combo right up. I smell 12's

perform the driver mod. get really good at launching and shifting your car. if your engine is healthy and well tuned up as far as good plugs, wire etc and your running 93 octane and 14 to 16 degrees of timing your car is capable of low low 13s or high 12s as it sits. the drag radials should help you hook up.

Upper and lower control arms, H/C/I, you say you already have an aluminum driveshaft? If not, that will probably help a little... less rotating mass.

if you can do the work, then stab a more agressive cam in your car. you didnt say what exhaust you have, if you dont have them then longtubes and a dr gas x pipe is the best route to take.
