So my car is has an annoying squeak on the drivers side front which i was told was the rubber bushing being squeaky. I Spayed them with white lithium grease and it seemed to help. But while i had the wheel off i noticed that the rotor was a little loose. So i took off the cap so i could get to that big bolt to tighten it up. I didn't have the correct socket size with me though so i just yanked on it a little with some chanalocks (sp?) But it didnt budge. I looked in my repair manual and I think it said something about it being a one time use bolt. Im guessing it is a stretch bolt or something. So i am going to pick up some new bolts for the front. I think it would help with the squeaking since it also squeaks when I turn the wheel sometimes.

Well while im doing that i think i am going to replace the front wheel bearings. Is there any tricks to doing those, or is it just basically just pull off the old ones, and pack the new ones with grease and tap it in?

If you can do brakes you can do front wheel bearings. That large nut is 35 or 36mm. That holds your wheel hub bearing on. It is torque to 215 lb/ft I think. Can't remember off my head.

Pull off your calipers and rotors. Remove the large nut(Breaker bar needed). Wheel hub bearing assembly should slide off. Clean spindle then put fresh grease on the spindle. Put on new bearing tighten to specified torque.

The hub bearing is sealed no need to grease it. Just grease the spindle before you put the new bearing on.

how would i check the ball joints?

I have the torque numbers in my book i just need to look it up. How hard is it going to be to get the old nut off? Could i just use a impact wrench? If not i have a breaker bar. So was i right that the nut is one time use?

First off your rotor will probably be a little loose to begin with. When you take your wheel off depending on how much pressure you have built up in your caliper it might seem a little loose. Secondly the Wheel bearing nut is a 36MM. You can take it off very easily with just a 1/2 drive wrench. The nut should be a one time use. Third if you have the wheel off the ground you should try to move it from side to side and up and down. Ball joints will squeek pretty good if they have no grease in the joint.
