The 99/01 Cobra came in a Silver version and a Polished version. It was only available in a 17x8.
Something I could never figure out was, did they only offer those wheels in the satin silver color in 99, and only the polished ones in 01? I've never seen a STOCK photo (for clarification: photo taken for manufacturer advertising purposes), of a 99 with polished wheels, or an 01 with silver wheels.

To my knowledge they only did polish in the 01 i have never seen a 99 with polished only the silver ones.

It's not that i don't like the enthusiasm of being different it's just i don't think its worth it financially. Widening a stock wheel is not going to be that noticeable to most people but at least you'll notice it. I think if you do get a stock wheel widened it would be a waste not to do at least 10" rears. One thing I'm curious about though, if they widen the wheel say 2 inches, do they weld on a spacer or something to the hub to correct for offset?

Weldcraft widens towards the Inside so i would have to run a spacer.

cobras... I wanted to widen a set of those too.

I totally agree if you're referring to the 94-97 styles!!! I also agree with Alex that if you did the tri-bars they'd have to have black centers.

Referring to these.

so you're gonna run a 2 or 2.5" spacer? Isn't that going to be extremely weak?

No if i ran a 3/4" Spacer now possibly a 1/2" i think i would be fine. I'll have to go out tom and measure how much room i have to see what i could run.

The Cobra's in 99 ONLY had silver. 01 Cobra's had the option of either silver or Poilshed.

That being said I love the idea about the 93 R wheel for being different. However I think the 01 Cobra wheels would look sick stretched out

Ok thanks for clarifying i was mostly right.

See this is why i am having such a hard time. Now since AR mentioned that even though im not a huge fan of black wheels. It sounds like a sick idea, and so does a huge fatty 01 polished cobra :(

you NEVER see 93R wheels on an sn95, ive maybe seen one or two ever. even if all you do is paint the tribars to match the color scheme of the 93R's it would be pretty unique.

If you widen a 17x8 1" and put on a 1" wheel adapter, it would be the just as strong at the hub as it would be with just the 17x8. The "weakness" may come from the wheel adapter itself. If I am wrong about that, dont rip me a new one, I read that on a miata site when I was considering widening a wheel.

Taking a wheel that you never see widened with a huge tire isn't different to you.

Cobra's 100% I'd only do the tribars if they where all black and only track wheels.
