3.4 Whipple FTW!!!..... but you better have a motor to back it up if not its going to rather quickly!! 2.3L is still a good size one and makes alot of power for its size!!!

Have you even raced it yet?
nope, its not ready yet

What does it need so you can race it?

ahhhh, traction bars and a wideband is a MUST......im NOT taking it without them. However I want to get back to the dyno for a race tune on 104ocatne and 2* more timing and I'd " like " to have my stall put in before it makes its first trip down the drag strip.

oh and as for that wideband, im a MORON for not having it on the damn truck RIGHT NOW.....its the MOST important tool to have once a Lightning has been modded ( with more boost ) :wall: and my slack ass has not spent the 400 bucks to get one yet.

Im shooting for the first of October right now.....those parts I listed ( though only a few ) is going to cost me almost 2k................not counting my NEW plans since I sold that crappy 2.3KB :blah2:

a wideband is a great tuning tool...but trust me. You don't have time to look at it going down the track. I NEVER remember to check it.

PLEASE tell me you're not going to try a big ass whipple on a stock bottom end...

the wide band is for monotiring whats going on with the life line vitals of my stock block. Any thing can happen at any time and Ive read WAYYY to many post about puck ups and NOT having a wideband......I dont want to join that crowd.

And NO I wouldn't be a moron and put a Large Whipple on a stock block.......for that matter the new Large whipples are not beating the smaller ones in the ground anyway. The smaller ones are still holding their own quite well. Ive been following them VERY closely ever since I bought the KB back in May. Im still weighing my options on buying a already built shortblock or having AVT build a custom one like most other guys down here are doing. Im waiting on him to get back to me with a package price right now. The killer part is the heads/work, almost 3k for those puckers :wall: Im going to sell plasma to help fund my project :crazy2:

Traction bars are unnecessary. If you get too out shape... lift. You're running a pickup truck, not a doorslammer.

A wideband won't do much since if something goes seriously wrong it will be too late. If your tune is satisfactory, you should be able to run the car safely with no concerns.

However I want to get back to the dyno for a race tune on 104ocatne and 2* more timing and I'd " like " to have my stall put in before it makes its first trip down the drag strip.

Why not get some times with your current setup? It's not like the truck will be slow as it sits.

Paul.

Are you KIDDING???????????? traction bars are NOT NECESSARY????? :rollinglaugh: :rollinglaugh: :rollinglaugh: :rollinglaugh: I dont know how to respond to that...

My tune is fine and done by a Lightning shop, but a wideband can show a problem in the early stages and if caught.....save a huge headache. Its peace of mind.....

I know its fully capable of running low 12s right NOW, given the current power level and the fact that I have slicks and skinnies for it, its inevitable. However that doesn't take away from the fact that I want to have it " right " the first time it goes down the strip. I want to be fully prepared for track day, and feel confident.....not second guessing my self.

Track vids and slips WILL COME Paul, keep your fruit of the looms on........ :hammer:

Nope. Not kidding.

Seat time is more important than horsepower for good track times. I'd get a few runs in before "the big day." It might save some potential disappointment if you don't run the number you're expecting.

funny you say that, Ive had the slicks/skinnies for 4 months now and haven't put them on the truck yet. I need to throw them on and take a short trip down the street to see how it feels. Im sure its day and night from the drag radials thats on there now.

There is some variation on launch technique from what I have read with the Lightnings but the general consensus is ( with slicks ) there isn't much to do other than stall up and matt it on the last yellow :crazy2:.......now trying it on street tires or drag radials takes lots of finesse thats why I decided NOT to even attempt that road :rollinglaugh:
