im waiting to find out that Ford over-engineered these engines to get them to those power levels, in turn making them basically non-responsive to mods.

damn i think living in the 70's would be like dazed and confused

It was :)
First time i saw that movie it freaked me out. My uncles and their friends all wore those concert shirts and had the hair and cars that were in the movie. We even partied in the woods etc but now because of 9/11 we can't use the woods or sand/mud pits near my house because the land is owned by the Bridge Commission and they say its a security risk.

I'm glad they're stepping it up in the power department.

Too bad they'll still be stupid modular motors in an ugly car.

I'll take the Camaro.

You really hate Modulars eh? OHC engines are better technology. It takes GM 6.1L with pushrods to get 425hp, but ford only 5.0L to get 400hp on a modular, and the fact that modulars generally run better and are more effecient... I like my push-rod stang, but Times are changing.

Yes.

OHC engines are better technology.

Opinion. Not fact. Unsubstantiated I might add. "Better" can mean a lot of things.

It takes GM 6.1L with pushrods to get 425hp, but ford only 5.0L to get 400hp on a modular,

...and it only took Ford 15 years to make good modular power in a normal Mustang. Awesome!!

Oh, and I'll take the 425 hp motor. You can settle with the 400hp. Cubes > Overhead Cams

and the fact that modulars generally run better and are more effecient...

Opinion. Not fact. Unsubstantiated one I might add.

They sure are. Camaros are outselling Mustangs.

Go buy one then, seriously if you love them that much go buy one. All the reviews/professionals say otherwise.

Camaro has outsold the Mustang over the last 3 months largely due to filling back orders when they stopped production.
Ford hurt themselves by letting the new engine program slip out since many diehards will wait an extra year to get a V6 thats over 300hp and 400hp GT's so the '10 sales will suffer but nice rebates will get people good deals over the winter and move them off the lot.

I thought about it, but I already have a toy. I decided to buy a toaster instead.

My next car will likely not be either a Mustang or a Camaro.

Thats sig material if I've ever seen it.

The new crapmaro is nice. I like the SS a lot. But like the '10 Shelby better.

The Camaro makes more power but from everything I've read the Mustang is a better car in pretty much every other category.

Except looks. And the motor. And the trans. And the brakes.

LSx > Modular

Ford will do what they do best, charge way to much for the average buyer to come a little closer to the competition.

The Camaro is a nice car but you've also got the fact that chevy should be able to produce a better can since they basically sit back and watch ford sell mustangs for 10 years before they decide to release another Camaro.

The braking performance is roughly the same, motor trend tested the camaro at 105 feet 60-0 and the stang like 108 feet, big deal....the car looks good on paper but its a PIG, the car doesnt impress me at all for having 425 hp...the damn thing is barely beating the mustang in the 1/4 mile...and mild bolt on 05+ cars will be able to beat that 426 hp beast.

It handles like a brick on wheels despite the fact it has independant rear and overall better suspension than the mustang.

The stang still is faster in the figure 8 and pulls more G's and is apparently a better car to drive according to a lot of magazines.

It would be nice to see 6 gears in a stang.

If the camaro were to drop about 600 lbs it would be a completely differant car

Yep, the Camaro is definitey too heavy.

However, all the hardware that's on it is superior the Mustang.

Oh, and a bolt-on Camaro will humiliate a Mustang - so going down that path is kind of useless. LSx motors get ridiculous power increases out of the most basic mods.

Yea, thats always true...Im just saying that you can buy the camaro SS and roll off the lot thinking you will humilate a 315 hp mustang but in reality that mustang is pretty much a drivers race on the street.

The 0-60 times are roughly the same so the better driver would probably win.

The hardware is superior, but what do you do about the weight?

If they had that in a low 3000 lb body it would be god, o wait they do...its called a Corvette.

Seems like such a waste to have all those components in that tank of a car
