Yep, the Camaro is definitey too heavy.

However, all the hardware that's on it is superior the Mustang.

Oh, and a bolt-on Camaro will humiliate a Mustang - so going down that path is kind of useless. LSx motors get ridiculous power increases out of the most basic mods.

Paul.

Yea, thats always true...Im just saying that you can buy the camaro SS and roll off the lot thinking you will humilate a 315 hp mustang but in reality that mustang is pretty much a drivers race on the street.

The 0-60 times are roughly the same so the better driver would probably win.

The hardware is superior, but what do you do about the weight?

If they had that in a low 3000 lb body it would be god, o wait they do...its called a Corvette.

Seems like such a waste to have all those components in that tank of a car
Oh snap! I honestly hate the look of the new camaro, way to big for my liking and the rear end looks uglier than the new stang(It's that stupid plastic piece on the bottom that makes me mad!)

its a good thing that the rear plastic valence piece is easily removed and replaced with better looking ones that will be made by companies like CDC. hell, Ford Racing already has an upgraded replacement piece (i dont believe it is for sale yet though)

LS1 Camaro never got no 33mpg, come on now. It did get better highway mileage than the Mustang though but it's not really a mystery why.
have you ever driven one on the highway? the one in question only had headers and an air filter

I've never liked the look of any Camaro, except maybe the late '60s RS/SS.

QFT!!! The nicest camaro was the 68 RS with the hide-away headlights, I LOVE those ones.

Ford never needed to make more power before to sell more cars....so why start now?

GM had the power advantage and lost. LOL Its funny to hear GM fans brag that the camaro is outselling the mustang.....after being gone 7 years i HOPE they can outsell the mustang in the first couple months.

Besides, the V6 is what makes it a success....not power hungry v8s....

I laugh when I hear people say "Why should Ford make more power? They sell more!"

Awesome, you can keep buying those underpowered, overcomplicated pieces of crap.

Well, that pretty much covers anything built from 1975 to the present. Sure made it easy for me!

I'm kinda with Paul on this one. I like the Modular engines but cars, in general, are soooo much more complicated any more. To the point that I would almost buy a well taken care of, pre-'75 non catalytic car just for the all out simplicity of it. It's just ridiculous!

The Mustang GT and Camaro SS will hardly be a competition come the 2011 model year. The '10 Mustang GT has a 111bhp defieit to the '10 Camaro SS, yet (w/ Track Pack) the 'Stang hits 0-60mph in 4.9s and the 1/4mi. in 13.5s, verses the Camaro's 4.7s and 13.0s, respectively. For 2011 the 'Stang will retain its weight advantage, and on top of that receve the much needed 85bhp bump. Straight-line or through the twisties, the 'Stang will rock the Camaro. Plus the Mustang gets a 6 speed, so fuel economy will be just as competitive as well.

+1

But I know for a fact the 2010 mustang can do better than 13.5...Ive seen bone stock auto's 05-07 hit 13.5...and ive also notice that most of the magazines testing that camaro ss were actually running slower times than 13.0

If they put 400 hp in that same 2010 mustang it would beat up on the ss all day

Interesting, so the Mustangs are all faster than the magazines say, and the Camaros are all slower than the magazines say.

This thread makes me ell oh ell.

Ive seen mustang go faster than the mags say...but im saying ive seen magazines test the camaro from 13.0 to 13.5

Dont know what they do in the real world.

Who knows, maybe they run mid12s with good tires.
