5.0 chip?

ok so i have a 95 gt with the mods listed below, im looking at getting a hypertech chip, will it improve HP/TRQ at all, noticeable or not?

How does the car run now? Have you dyno'd it? (not that it's necessary... just curious)

it was running great, til i had a oil,fuel and coolant leak, so now back to square one putting it all back together, got some new spark plugs,wires,coil and distributor and a bunch of gaskets so should run better. no havnt dynoed yet.

Maybe throw a small cam in while you are rebuilding it, then get a professional dyno tune. What kind of chip are you talking about?
From ebay, or a "Mail order specific to your car" chip? I would stay away from those and get a tune on a in-shop dyno.

+2 Those cookie cutter type programs they provide are a joke. If you aren't tuning it yourself then I would suggest using only SCT products since the software in the right hands in much better than the others out there. Dyno tuning is the top choice because the tuner has the vehicle in front of them and can actually see what the car is doing besides data log most of the important and needed parameters. If there's a problem he can address it right then or if it needs work he can make the call. Then once done they need to take the vehicle out and drive it to make sure it is street friendly, no drivability issues. I see it too many times and I end up with them coming to see me for that exact reason. They got a dyno tune where tuner was more interested in making a buck and just went for the numbers. Check out the shop or the tuner if you can.

If you go with a mail order; not all are bad. Stick with someone that has the experience with your type of vehicle. This isn't too hard since most tuners specialize in Mustangs and when they get something else they get lost. But it takes an experience tuner to be able to build a good mail order program. 99% of the people out there will not have the equipment to data log an EEC IV vehicle, which is what you have. So if you get into a problem with the programming it's harder for the tuner to figure out unless you are good at describing the problem. It also helps to have a decent wide band setup to monitor your a/f. That's an additional cost and most won't go for that either.

well i dont have the funds for a tune, just kinda looking for some inexpensive HP to add and thought a chip might help, im looking at hypertech and jet in summits catalog, it says that i have to tell them my cars info like fuel injector size, gear size,throttle body ect.. and as far as a cam goes ive been told i wont notice too much of an improvement unless i get a good set of heads like edelbrock or gt40, and 1.6 rockers.
