mcglsr2 so when are you going to be starting this thing up? I feel like you've been doing all this work and you dont even know if it will all function yet.

You have a point, Sir. I guess I am procrastinating a bit - well sort of, as these are items on my list to complete regardless of whether the car runs or not. But you are right. I'll hold on finishing the car alarm and driver side door for a mo, finish the remote oil filter install, put fresh oil in and (attempt to) fire it up. Probably this weekend.

Thank god

Lol I was seeing how long I could drag it out ;)

Tiny update. So, regarding the brake fluid. I read the FSM last night and there's actually two procedures I can try out to get the bubbles removed. I will do that as well. But after I try to start the car...

NO MORE BUBBLES

Yah that would be nice ;)

So. Didn't get much time to work on the car this weekend, it was pretty busy. I did start to plan out the remote oil filter install and wouldn't you know it - the Canton adapter that goes on the block that I ordered from Amazon is the wrong one - wrong in/out port sizes and wring thread. Ugh. Completed a replacement with Amazon, new one is supposed to show up in a couple days, hopefully it will be the correct one this time. So, in the mean-time, back to working on wiring stuffs while I wait for that guy to arrive.

So lame! Good thing they replaced it though, being my luck I would have had to buy a new one.

Amazon is good to work with, i prefer them over ebay....way prefer if you know what i mean

Yah I buy A LOT of stuff from Amazon, not just car-related. Their prices are (usually) competitive, shipping is fantastic, and are good about returns and refunds.

It's funny, I didn't really look at the adapter when it arrived. Just now over the weekend. Glad I caught it before installing it on the car...

Did some work tonight. I got the car alarm all wired in. So now I have remote lock/unlock, remote trunk popper, and a car alarm against shock and opening doors. Wired into the car horn and parking lights. I have to say, I am pretty happy about this. I didn't screw anything up, and all the features work like they are supposed to. First time I have ever installed a car alarm/remote lock & unlock. Granted, I might have cheated a bit - I ended up rewiring the car door locks to a different scheme (if you can call that cheating...), but I was doing that anyway. So.........I didn't take any pics, for obvious reasons.

Super pumped. It works. Hells yes. I should be able to wrap up the driver door wiring before the oil filter adapter arrives.

Excellent. I like you learning everything with your car so it will be easy for you to do on mine ;p

lol it iiiiiis said that it's easier the second time around ;)

^ someone else works nightshift hehe...
very nice work by the way, is theft an issue in o town?

No, no more than any other city I would think. Honestly, I wanted it more for the remote lock/unlock and trunk pop. I've gotten used to it, and wanted it on this car as well. But the car alarm stuffs came with the "kit", so might as well set that up too. Plus, I had never done one of these before, so good excuse to do one. ;)

Not sure if you mean that I work an actual nightshift, or that if I work on the car at night. I have a "normal" 8-5 type job, so during the week the only time I get to work on the car is when I get home from work, and that's assuming something else doesn't need to be done (which it usually does). Weekends, of course, are another matter.

Welp. My remote oil filter adapter thing for the block arrived today, and yay - it was the correct one this time. I spent the night working on it but didn't quite get it done. Close though. I had to run out to the store and pick up a couple things so that ate into my time.

Anyway, I have the block adapter installed (no hoses yet):

You can see a brass plug in the block right above the adapter - that's where the stock oil pressure sender used to be. I don't need that spot anymore for reasons you will see in a second. Plus, that thing is an absolute b1tch to get to. So it can stay plugged.

I mounted up the filter portion on the outside of the frame rail - I will be able to get to it pretty easily from the bottom of the car (again, no hoses yet):

And here's the other side of it, when my Auto Meter oil pressure sender installed (closest to the frame rail), and my Auto Meter oil temp sensor installed - neither are wired up yet as I have to extend the wires to reach. Once I do that, I'll put some dielectric grease in there and connect them up (and this is why I don't need to use the stock sender location on the block):

So tomorrow I just need to cut the hoses to length and install them, put the oil filter on, fill 'er up, and try to crank it up!

We need video footage, good bad or indifferent. We need to see what happens, plus, I want to see those gauges working.
