Been holding off re-grooving my pistons. I tried to sell them and pass on the saving if someone could have used them the way they were made. I had a low ballers offering $300 for a set of $1000 pistons.

I grooved to a standard 2nd ring of 1.5mm. Ring thickness was .0325. Now on to installing.

Finally!!! After 4yrs of sitting finally getting something back together.

Ill run down the story for ya. After the engines 2nd build and 1k miles later the car developed a miss. I couldn't figure out the problem but knew cylinder 3 was out with no compression. Life took a bigger role (this part of the story is alot like ttocs) with a colon disease so the car had to sit. Somewhere in the middle I took the valve cover off passenger head with no luck discovering problems, so I took out the engine and pulled the heads. Now you may be wondering "why not pull the head off with the engine in the car?" The engine is a 5.4l leaving absolutely no room between frame and hydroboost therefore rotating the engine aint happening! Beside all the covers have to come off and to rotate the engine the engine mounts had to be loosened. ...just pull it!
Examining all the components for failure on my part I find cylinder 3 exhaust valve spring broke. I should have known given the springs manufacturer (no names mentioned) they are notorious for breaking. Long story short, I decided to let the car sit (more life) and the next build will proceed in order by my plans. In case you're wondering, 4v is next (maybe) I dont want to go into much detail about this build, but will say its a 2v 5.4l non pi head, frpp shorty headers, eddy intake....nothing fancy, just fun n/a!

I agree with this completely, without 96blak54 and lwarrior1016 I wouldn't have learned half of the stuff I now know about modular motors
