Ok, so I've decided to keep the 4.6 and so I will go with that route.

Now this car is 99% street 1% strip.

The only reason I add strip, is to run it to see it's capabilities.
(you can't bench race having no clue how fast your car is)

So with that said, would this net me(obviously with the driver mod)
at least 12.9

HYPOTHETICALLY????

my stock 97 Shortblock
PI Heads
PI Intake
CMS Stage 1 Cams
JLT CAI
Steeda UDPs
Trick flow 70MM TB/Plenum
BBK Short Tubes
Slightly agressive race tune. Nothing crazy, but one of those good gas burners;)

Eibach Pro System Plus
AJE K member/A Arms
Carbon Fiber OEM style Hood
Fiberglass OEM style trunklid
Aluminum DS
SVE upper/lower control arms
3.73s
Drag Slicks to be named later.
17x8 up front
17x10.5 out back
and last (most important mod)
Driving time.

How do I look?
Or do I need to scrap this build, and plan another.

Like I said it's a street car, but I want to confidently say, but I run 12s.
and 12.9 is a 12. haha

And I know I will catch hell about just PI heads, but remember this is mostly for street. It's not a dyno queen, and I'd like to see it last more than a few years. I'd honestly like to see my paint fade first.

Also Tracking about not getting longtubes, but if I can hit what I want without em, then that just makes Tranny work easier.
Thanks for the input/critique.

I wouldn't think 12.9 would be a huge stretch.

I've read alot of Bullitt 5339s stuff all over the net.
And if he's that low on just untouched motor, I would pray to hit my area.

to help you get there if you are planning on doing PI heads you could always get them mildly ported/polished as well. Other than that it just seems like basic bolt ons...you never mentioned what transmission you have? That could make a big difference as well.

IMHO, a lot of those mods will just cost $$$ and not benefit the car much (unless you are doing them to just have some fun with the car and spend some money)

OOPS!:p

I did forget to put transmission didn't I?

T45.

That's why I posted.
I'm getting a feel for the details I may be missing.

I'd thought about some Ported PIs, but it's not high on the list.
If nothing else, it should be a blast to drive.

Not trying to thread jack hopefully this will help 97bullit also but I just got my pi heads and there is alot of casting flaws in the ports. Would just cleaning that stuff up help much or do you need to go with a full on port job to notice anything?

Just throwin this out:

Have you priced All that out?
Maybe compare that to a blower and mild suspension mods?
The modular responds well to boost and is funner on the street and strip.

Yep, expensive.

Which is part of the plan.

If I wanted the quick and easy route, I'd have opted for my rebates, mil discount, mil exclusive pricing, etc, and bought a 2011 5.0
But this is paid off, and the money I'd have spent on payments/insurance, can now go to mods.

This is intended to take about 2 years. It keeps me busy while I finish out my time in the Military.

And steers clear of FI.

But I see where you are coming from.
But just slapping a blower on it, and calling it a day, IMO is boring.

But none the less; point taken.

I'm just making sure I'm headed in the right direction.

you are headed in the right direction, I think dal's point is that for that money you can have a blower setup that will be in the same price range and will produce more power for your buck

^+1, if na is the route you want to go then more power to ya. there's just so many people who have went full bolt ons with cams, only to look back at the money they spent and the power they made and wish they had just bought a blower instead. But like i said if you have priced out that list and have an idea of what kind of power its going to make, and are ok with that, then rock on man.

Thanks for the input.

And believe me, a blower would do all those things fast.
But to me, what's the point of a "project" if I just finish in one sitting?

Besides, when this motor goes, I'll get me a new one and make some serious NA power.

I am and forever will be a little saddened, the 3vs can make so much more power NA.
I just fear those electronics.

true.
But I just don't like FI.
Can't explain it, sure it's fun, but I just never felt the need to jump on that.
Call me crazy.
