most of the members that have done this arent on right now and prolly wont be till a little later. JR can help alot, he knows what he is talking about when it comes to these cars, realityGT just did the swap so he might be of some use...hmmm.... I think Steven has done it before. be patient, they will be in here before too long

just drop the K.. You will spend less time dropping it than you will fighting them in any other way. It is possible by yourself, ive dont it 5 times on the garage floor by myself.

You can do like Matt said, or run a bar or pipe acrossed the tower and chain it up. The K doesn't need to come like, out, just down a few inches. It'll take you a few hours, but it's a few hours of just simple easy loosening bolts, rather than fighting, lol.

ok, i guess i have to drop the k member down. i hope i dont ruin anything. will i have to disconnect any brake lines or p/s lines? i am honestly scared to do this. :dunno: but i am going to have to figure this stuff out eventually

and just because i dont want to create another thread- what is this cam tool that keep hearing about? i am going to attempt the pi cams soon and want to gather the tools now

If you just lower the K, you don't need to unhook brake lines, unbolt the rack from the K and sing it forward, and your powersteering lines can stay put as well.

The cam tool holds the chains, so you don't have to reset the timing.

so could i just support the engine, and leave my struts and actual suspension hooked up. then with a jack under the K,unbolt it and just lower it down enough? and would i have to unbolt the p/s rack?

and the cam tool- could i rent it from auto zone? or where do i buy it?

Yes, you got it, that's how I did it.

The cam tool, is an OTC tool, you gotta find it on ebay, the corral, or find someone willing to rent you there's. Anderson Ford makes one as well, but I've heard is very prone to bending.

when you hold the motor up with a floor jack, jack off the bell housing instead of the oil pan. :boink:

yeah, you could also try contacting some of your local Ford Dealers to see if any of them sell tools, and i dont mean tools like screw driver kits or whatever. call the service department and tell them that you are looking for a cam tool and if they sell it. i think out of the 7 or so local dealerships (home and work) only one of them sold it, but they were asking a bit more than Randy could get it for me.

if all else fails, contact randy over on www.modularmisfits.com, he's the one i bought my cam tool from.
