I'm trying to clean the tranny/transfer case on my jeep project so I can paint it and right now I'm wire wheeling it and its taking forever. Is there any other methods like soaking it with oven degresser or something? It has about 30 years of muck and grime on it

Pressure washer would take the biggest part of the grime off first. just be careful around the input and output shaft locations.
Sandblasting gets everywhere. your hair, shirt, nose, shoes, etc. so coverup really well.
you also need a good size compressor.
