Looking to do a h/c/i swap in the summer but on a tight budget. Not looking for 300hp or anything, just a quicker more aggressive car. I want to do the following:
5.0 Explorer Upper & Lower Intake
GT40 or Ported stock e7 heads
E303 Cam
75MM Throttlebody
Shorty Headers
Question is, what else would I need? Would I need a throttlebody adapter and if so where can I find one? The car only has a little under 54k on it, I don't want to get into the valve springs, rr's etc... Think I should be at atleast 220rwhp right? Thanks

If you plan with going with a cam I would go ahead and get some new valve springs to handle the lift. I will be going with the f cam and am using the trick flow springs designed for factory iron heads. Ive heard Alex's Parts also sells a set of valve springs which are a little cheaper. You should be fine with the stock pushrods and rockers just make sure you check clearances. I would also add a new fuel pump to that list

I'll look into valve springs. Would the trickflow ones work with the gt40p heads? Would a 255 lph fuel pump be good?

That trickflow set would work with gt40 or gt40p heads? Should I get an adjustable fuel pressure regulator too?

Actually decided to go with the Trickflow Track Max Stage 1 Cam, would that trickflow spring upgrade kit work with this cam and gt40 or gt40p heads?

With the GT40 heads, intake, headers, and e303 cam, you should be in the 260rwhp range.

Interestingly I just read a Ford Dyno Combination book that tested various motors with larger throttle bodys, and a stock 60mm unit shows it is sufficient for the smallblock. Even with larger aftermarket MAFs, aluminum heads, and much more n/a power.

I'll be doing a GT40p topend this spring too.
Gt40p heads take special headers. Mac, FRPP, and Summit make P specific swap headers. I have heard BBK shorties willand willnot also fit P heads, but don't know of anyone that has them. Might be something about newer vs older BBK's.
I already have the 5.0P exploder motor in the garage, BBK shorties and a 65mm throttle body (currently installedon the GT). I still need to get elbow, springs, and top end gaskets, timing chain kit, and decide on a cam.(I'll need it to pass emissions test annually).
Will this set up need a "tune". or will it be good to go as is?
