Going to be giving the rear end a bit of love here soon, I have been hearing a roaring noise coming from the rear along with a pinging noise when ever I hit a bump, and the pinion seal is leaking. So I placed a order with late model and american muscle..
ordered:
-mini gear install kit(shims, pinion seal, marking compound) from lmr
-royal purple gear oil and friction modifier from lmr
-frpp wheel bearings from am
-frpp diff rebuild kit.

Freshin up the rear end a bit.

Looks like this will make for a very fun weekend.. lol not.

any tips on installing any of this?

I know i will need a slide hammer for the bearings, but any other special tools?

I replaced the pinion seal, it was leaking, only a little but a little is to much.
I didnt take to many pictures of that but let me tell you, changing that was a b*tch!, but i finally got it! I will post all the online resources I used at the end if yall where curious..

Let the pics begin!

New is the top one clearly

And here was the biggest shocker!
one of the carrier bearings was completely chewed up!
So I went and bought new carrier bearings, but couldnt have them pressed on tonight because all the shops where closed

and this is where i left off, letting the carbon fiber clutch packs soaking in the rp gear oil (with friction modifier) over night, i will resume tomorrow.

Well I finally got a Cai!!

also did the transmission fluid swap, replaced the fuel filter and new spark plugs. Not very exciting i know. The transmission fluid was only slightly dirty, so not much difference. A bit smoother. Now the fuel filter was a big deal, at least to me. It was the original filter that was from the factory, and when I took it off and tipped it sideways, black fuel and sentiment poured out. Glad I got that crap out of my fuel system. As for the spark plugs I noticed it is alot smoother when revving.

Up next is a tune, throttle body (70mm) and plenum.

I did notice a slight difference with the cai, so hopefully with all this it will be a huge gain over stock.
That's always the first thing I do when I buy a car. They always have the original filter installed. I believe that the majority of ordinary car owners don't even know that cars have fuel filters.

Also I plan to make my first dyno run this march on a mustang dyno. I'm pretty excited to see what I can put down.

I am really hoping to see 255 rwhp and 280rwtq with a
-93 octane "race tune"
-airaide cai
-professional products 70mm tb
-professional products plenum

Comments or suggestions welcomed!
I had a 2002 GT that I had dyno'd back in 2008 with only an off-road h-pipe and 2½" Flowmaster catback. Nothing else; no CAI, no tune, no larger TB or aftermarket plenum. And 105,000 miles.
It dyno'd 252.7 rwhp and 276 rwtq on a non-Mustang dyno. Don't expect super high numbers, but the PI cars are definitely quicker from the factory than most people think.

Alos here are some pictures from the other week with a couple of my buddys.

Over the past few month I have been mulling over a tough decision in regards to my car, and now I think I have had my moment of clarity. In the long run I will end up spending alot more money starting with a base such as a Mustang gt, so with that being said, at the beginning of next year I will be selling my car to invest in one of the following:

-z06 c5 corvette

-6.0 gto

-ws6 trans am

-f body ss camaro

-03/04 Cobra

It saddens me to come to this conclusion but it is the best route.

Nice choices! At one point in my life I've wanted either one if the ones you listed. For the price of the ZO6 I'd probably go for a C6. I just think the C6 is sooo much nicer IMO or go for the 6.0L Goat!

To be honest guys, I would have gotten one of the above mentioned cars for my firsts cars if i could have afforded it. I dont really have a brand bias (except no hondas), its the performance that matters.
