White 1999 SVT Cobra - "Project Ivory Snake"

Preliminary plans (may change as time progresses) include:

- Teksid block bored/stroked.
- Forged bottom end (wiseco pistons, manley hbeams, arp2000 rod bolts, arp main studs, arp side bolts)
- Forced Induction (16 to 17-ish PSI - Supercharged/turbo ??)
- Revised 2005 "C" cylinder heads (already purchased from Ford)
- New paint, including engine bay ---> staying with white.
- New bumper covers and various exterior pieces, trim, etc replaced
- Various engine bay cleanup mods
- Putting the 99/01 cobra style export tails back in (already purchased from Ford)
- Complete 2001+ Interior swap
- T56 swap (maybe)
- Hurst short throw shifter
- New clutch
- Completely upgraded drivetrain, including driveshaft and gears (going 4.10)
- Upgraded brakes all around
- Complete suspension upgrade
- Wheels and tires (possibly)

Goal: 650 to 700 RWHP.

Initial Notes:


The car was delivered today. It runs like shit, which I expected. Check engine light and ABS light are both on. The car stumbles and smells horribly of burnt oil. The clutch is shot and sounds absolutely ear pitching. However, the engine itself sounds good. There was some damage to the radiator/fan area. One of the coolant hoses are held up with a wire. A preliminary washing took place to get the dirt and road grime off from the 2200 mile trip that it made from Irvine California to Auburn Indiana. The car has minor cosmetic flaws all the way around, most of which are on the bumper covers, which are bound to be replaced anyway. It's a California car, so there's no rust on it, which is good, however the paint has started to deteriorate due to prolonged exposure to UV rays from the strong So-Cal sunlight. A complete paint job is in the future for this car. The interior, for the most part, is good. There's normal wear on the seats, primarily the drivers side. A complete 01+ interior is in order, hopefully including terminator style seats. Rear window motors and/or regulators are malfunctioning. They're on the list to be repaired. The wheels have curb rash. I may repair them, or get new wheels... undecided. Preliminary plans are listed above. Initial photos to follow.

Yeah, it needs a little bit of body work, but all in all, it's not really too bad at all. Just a handful of "trouble" spots that will need to be fixed before it's painted.

I decided to start tearing into this tonight. I knew it wouldn't be long before I started to find some kind of Mickey Mouse shit on here.

First thing I noticed after I pulled off the radiator cover was this half assed wiring. There was some kind of box mounted up with a potiemeter on it ranging from "low" to "high" and it had two "sensor" like things ran on each side of the car that were behind the bumper cover. I still don't know what that is, or what it does/did.

After getting that mess out of the way, I remove a few more pieces and go to take the front bumper cover off, and find out that somebody has pop-riveted it on each side, and put self tapping screws through the splash guards.

After getting those rivets out and the self taping screws, the bumper cover came off and I discover that the fog lights were being held in by masking tape.

I started disconnecting coolant lines and draining the fluids. I see the damage to the front is a little more extensive than I originally though. It looks like somebody hit something pretty damn hard.

The end result for today:

On a side note, it appears that every single connector that I've encountered thus far has had the plastic retaining tabs broken off.

Though progress is good, those are some interesting finds..atleast it wasnt anything that stopped this project before it started.
