Just one question. If you removed the pilot bearing(which i'm assuming you did), how in God's name did you get it out? On my old car my dad took a dremel to it and ended up putting a groove on the inside of the crank end :|

All Mark VIIIs come with autos. So luckily they don't have a pilot bearing. It was a easy install.

Haha. Yeah. I don't miss the NPI at all and getting smoked all the time. I would of made 300-350 hp on max boost with the NPI. After that I would of needed forged internals.

Lol you could have easily made 400 rwhp with the npi, especially with the pi cams and maybe pi intake.

The bottom end should have held 12 psi no problem...the biggest issue with these motors is detonation and hurting the pistons and ring lands....a lot leas chance of detonation with the npi 8.5 compression ratio

Lots of guys getting away with 450-500 rwhp even 500+

I saw a video where they used bread to force the bearing out. They jam it in the hole and with a steel pipe the size of the bearing hole and a hammer you compact the hell out of the bread adding more and more and it forces it out.

I see from your sig your car is boosted. You have a NPI motor?

help you guys out. never heard of bread. but take a handful of multipurpose grease. pack the pilot. take something that fits tight in the pilot. a socket with an extension backwards works well if you can. and strong strikes to the extension to soft and it just pushes in the grease but if you strike it right you build a type of hydro puller. you may have to pack with more grease but ive done a handful this way with great success.

I was pretty close to boosting the NPI. But this motor came up for a good price. Well pretty much the whole car I got for $500 and it was in good running condition. You may be right on those numbers, idk. The NPI is long gone. Plus the 4v looks way better sitting in my engine compartment.

Yea man, 400 rwhp would be nothing at all with a turbo and maybe a PI intake on a NPI I bet...ive seen some turbo NPI cars over the years and was quite impressed by the power they made actually.

Boost is a measure of restriction..…

12 psi on a npi motor may only make 350 rwhp where as it might make 425 rwhp with a pi setup.

Its not really the boost that you need to look out for, more the power with these motors.

Also my Vortech setup with a pi motor ran 11-12 psi for like 4 years no problem

For the manifold on finally. After sand blasting it, I painted what I thought was aluminum color and turned out to be titanium silver blue. Which I'm extremely happy with. That color is badass, I must of grabbed the wrong can at AutoZone. All I need to do now is install the injectors, fuel rail, hook up the fuel lines, hook up the intake, pcv hoses and the radiator hoses then it's ready to start. Shit I forgot, most importantly I need a new throttle cable. But, I can start the motor without it for now. gonna finish up this weekend.

Nice progress man! Looks great. Anticipating your first impressions.

Btw contact atlanticblue98 on here about the throttle cable, the 4v mustang cables are hard to come by so you can make a v-6 cable work IIRC.
