Badass project. I've always wanted to do a build on one of those early 90s f150s.

Thank you man! I hated the truck when I first started driving it but after seeing some cool builds on a few forums I fell back in love quick and have been ever since.

5 pages back...kind of depressing. This thing has really hit the back burner. I need some more motivation on it. Today I did take my coil bracket and brake booster to my friends house and bead-blasted them clean. I'll prolly paint them tomorrow evening after work. All that's holding me up from reassembly of everything is cleaning up the front suspension and frame and getting a coat of undercoating on the frame. The super hot weather we had for a while made it hard for me to wanna go out to my shop and sweat to death working on it so maybe now that the weather is changing I'll get the ball rolling again and finish this thing up.

Well I finally got the motivation do mess around with this thing again today. I pulled the shocks off the front so that one day this week I can finally get the frame cleaned up and shoot it with some undercoating, I'll also be changing my radius arm bushings. I dug my upper intake out and broke out the sand paper on the lettering on top which really makes it pop against the semi gloss black! Still need to do some fine polishing with a little 2000 grit. For the time being though I stuck the upper and lower on and the brackets to do a half ass mock up of how it will look, I think it's gonna turn out pretty cool.

That little straight six has more cubes than a 2v mustang lol.
Truck looks great bro, I've always loved that body style. I have had 92, 93, & 94. All mine had 302 though.

Yeah, I'm going to go out on a limb here and assume that the inline six can probably handle more power than the 302w block, too.

I think boosting that motor would carry a lot more cool points than a V8 swap, unless your V8 swap brings some serious big boy power.

If you've never driven one you'd be surprised at how stout they are. I've seen a couple builds where people have turbo'd them. One guy even turbo'd one that was still speed density and eventually converted it to mass air over the course of the project, I think it out down something close to 400whp which is crazy! The v8 swap I've been thinking of more and more here lately is a 5.4 4 valve out of a lincoln navigator that we found at a you-pull-it yard locally. Assuming they still have it the next weekend that there isn't a monsoon here we plan on going to get it. Atleast for now though I still plan on getting the 6 back together and driveable once again.

A navi 5.4 would be awesome in that thing! I have seen a couple guys the did 2v 5.4 swaps in full size broncos and from what I understand, its a big time project. I would love to see you do it though.

Oh, I'm not trying to discourage you from a V8 swap, by any means. And I will eagerly tune in to updates on this truck/build to see the progress of whatever you choose to do.

I would just rather see you boost the straight six, rather than most any V8 swap.

I've also seen some guys that took two lightnings, gen1 and gen2, and made a gen1 with the complete gen2 drivetrain and suspension. That was one of the coolest builds I've seen.

Oh I understand man. I've also had people trying to talk me into doing a turbo straight six as well for years. In the early stages of me owning this truck, yea if I had had the means it probably would have gotten a 302 or something like that...but as I've grown more and seen more I really want to do something that will stand out from the rest and I think a 5.4 would definitely accomplish that.

I finally got to put my front wheels on the truck to see how it sets! I got a pair of used Nitto 555's this weekend from a friends car, they are worn pretty bad on the edges but all I wanted from them was to put on here so I could see for myself how the wheels are gonna look and if I'll be happy with the tire sizes I picked out.

Once I get all the weight back on the front it will look right and low again. The tires are 275/40/18 on a 9.5" wheel. For the back tires I plan on getting 295/45/18's. I think the front is gonna look great with those size tires.

Found my lug nuts for these wheels finally so I swapped em out and got em sitting right. Gonna look sooooo good.

Ignore the shape of the tires. I just needed a set for these purposes in the shop.

Also went ahead and put in my Belltech springs and nitro drop shocks for the mock-up.

Finally getting a little more done with this thing. Since the last post I took the wheels back off and pulled the suspension back out and started cleaning the frame up to get ready for undercoating. Got everything cleaned up and sprayed then put the suspension back in for the time being. I'm going to be replacing my rotors and bearing up front and while the rotors are off I'm going to also change ball joints on both sides as well as paint my spindles and brake calipers.

I'll probably paint the spindle black and do the rest of the caliper silver or grey not sure yet.

I also picked up a gasket set for my exhaust/intake and got the manifolds back on. Once I got everything bolted up I put my fuel rail and injectors back on and got my wiring harness for the injectors where I wanted it.

Got my brackets back on also.

And while I was getting some parts today I went ahead and picked up a new distributor cap. I think it's pretty clear why it was having firing issues before I put it in the shop and started the tear down. Pics speak for themselves lol.

The wires I'm going to get are grey with black boots so it should look pretty good between the cap and the block. I'm trying not to go overboard and buy everything at once but I'm pretty close to finally having everything in order for it. I'm not rushing it though as it will not be leaving the shop until the suspension is finished up along with everything else I started on it. By the end of the week I do plan on having the upper intake back on along with the alternator and ac compressor and water pump. Then I'll start on the rest of the wiring harness.

Been working on it some here and there every night this week. I've gotten the upper intake back on, along with my accessories, just needing a water pump pulley before I can put the belt on. Also took what was left of the header wrap I had and did what was visible of the exhaust pipes from the flanges down below the frame rail. Today I picked up a set of plugs and wires and a coil then realized after I made it back home that I don't have a 13/16" spark plug socket, so I had to borrow one from good ol dad. Changing the plugs and routing all of my vacuum lines is all that's left on the engine. Still gonna be a little while out on doing the bearings and ball joints though. Anyway here's a few pics:

Oh yea, put my condenser and header panel back in as well.

Your attention to detail is commendable, man. When it comes down to the right build, it's all about the details.

Keep up the good work!!
