I know it's dangerous. I know I'm pressing my luck. But it's my high, it really is. It's an addiction.
For the record, I never initiate. Which is a bummer, since I've been driving this beast for about a month now and have had many potential opponents that I wanted to get a piece of.
I digress.
I'm cruising along, it's the middle of the day in Phoenix, was moderately hot, so I had the AC blowin'. I'm in the far left lane, next to the HOV lane, doing about 65. Mr. Redline comes roaring up (exhaust for sure, intake likely, probably more...sounded well-tuned), revs once. I drop it into 4th, give it a rev, and he takes off...so do I. The blower's been funny lately, I know I need to have it checked out, but the short of it is I was running at about 6 PSI. This being my first run in the Mustang, the ol' thinker wasn't working right, so I reverted to my high-revving days of owning imports, and dropped it to 3rd. Realize my mistake and lose a car length getting back to 4th. :BangHead:
Pulling up next to him, I need to change lanes for traffic ahead, so I go to the center lane, and then have to get right back. By the time this happens, I'm in 5th and have put 2 on him again. It was at this point I take a moment to check my gauges...and decide to put a stop to this 130 MPH insanity in medium daylight traffic.
I've hurt his pride (surely my big, heavy, 14 year old slow-ass GT would lose quickly in a roll...hah...those gauges aren't for oil pressure and exhaust temps, son), so he flies by and takes an exit. With weight (~250 lbs), 2 miss-shifts (just ordered a new quadrant, should help), the roll, and the AC working against me, I feel pretty good.
