PHB/TA is a fine setup. They're all good setups (except for the stock Ford quadra bind, lol). But some are suited better for certain applications than others. I would think PHB/TA would be the ultimate drag setup.

The suspension articulation is wild, when i first put it in i had to put the stock front sway bar back in since so much grip was present in the rear, the tight front end caused understear. LoL once the stock swaybar was back in it corrected the issue.

And for anyone doubting, these mods really do work. When I had the watts link in the rear, it had so much grip that a rear swaybar was just added weight and wasn't doing anything. I threw it in the recycling dump.

Always wanted to try a watts link. What controls axle wind up with those? Do you retain UCLs with them? I am not sure what is removed when a watts link is installled? Aside from tail pipes

Ahah! So a torque arm is still used. That makes sense. The watts link makes it an even range of motion laterally during suspension articulation. So cool. How much does a setup like that go for? Never looked into it. I am guessing you run side pipes or dumps. How is the NVH on that setup? My torque arm added a bit of vibration. I have double and triple checked all of my geometry.

Forgot to mention that, good point. The factory diff covers on the Cobra IRS units tend to..... explode. Violently, lol.

Just more money to upgrade on a better diff cover and bushings, etc.

Right now the weight of my IRS is actually pretty close to that of an SRA. I kick myself because I forgot to weigh it all before the install just out of curiosity. I ditched a ton of weight by going tubular arms, DSS axles, and lightened diff gears.

I bet it's still 50+ pounds heavier than a SRA

No dumps...running a cobra IRS exhaust. I dont keep track of money on builds so cant really tell ya what i paid. TA is the griggs heavy duty and the Gr40 watts link. The rear is narrowed so the coilovers are moved inside the frame rails. phoned 061.jpg

How do you like the rear coil overs? Always glanced at those but it seemed like overkill

Worth every penny. Ride height adjustments are simple and can tailor handling characteristics by changing spring rates.

i prefer a mechanical component that needs some refinement because ford gave it squishy bushings and used a cat aluminum part as a mounting point over one that at best mnimizes an unpredictable nature without eliminating it. But hey without SRA's we wouldn't have these great memes.

for the record im not anti SRA, if you need it for a particular class or wanna run what the car came with that's fine. its just objectively not better than a newer thing just like this 90's IRS is probably not as good as what ford just came out with.

look up how much unsprung weight a full built SRA has and then what unsprung weight costs in terms of handling and road manners.

Well, the time has finally arrived. I took all the MM rear suspension parts to the shop that’s going to do the installation. Talked at some length with two of the mechanics. I was relieved to learn they’re familiar this type of install. Heavy sigh of relief there. One even KNEW the sequence of installing the parts. So another confidence builder there!
Work starts Monday…

Enjoy. The biggest pain is just making sure the passenger side brake line tee is relocated, which means cutting/flaring of new lines ultimately. Should be a DIN ISO Bubble flare if they don't already know.

many should take comfort in my having never done this before and apparently it isn't that hard because no leaks after hundreds of miles.

Update: car wasn’t ready Friday as intended. Ooh, shocker! LOL.
Apparently, the Bassani X-pipe is in the way of the new support brace(?) at/near the trans crossmember(or some shit like that) and a small portion of the exhaust tubing needs to get altered to make things fit. It is what it is, I guess! Can’t say I’m not disappointed. But I suppose we get used to (or maybe learn to tolerate) set backs , hiccups and surprises to builds. Hoping for Wednesday next.
