Well I guess the 3.90s that are going in my car will be pretty interesting with a KB hahaha. It will probably be re-geared if a KB goes on.

Like 86svo said I too used a combo of bolts and studs to hold it down, and half of them are a pain in the ass to get to. One thing i saw mentioned that I forgot was the coil relocation, but i assume the bracket comes with the kit. It just bolts to the side.

@ Onyx - Man i love KBs. Looks nice on yours. I still cant decide which supercharger to choose. Do you recommend a KB for me ? My car is more a Weekend street Warrior and has the AODE with 4.10 rearend. The down low torque would be fun as hell in combo with the 4.10s but i rather put all to power to the street instead in making smoke lol

It's really all what you want man, 4.10s are gonna be pretty low for a KB but then again with the automatic it could be fun as hell. Even with stock gears I'd expect tire spin with a KB, the instant torque is impressive. I'd suggest good tires on the rear either way, even good drag radials will spin.

everything looks so small!

what does that even mean?

I feel the same way. I hate the look of a KB on the 5.0 (Sorry Ryan) but for some reason I'm still drawn to get one. But I know I'll have to wear a flame suit on here if I did, so many haters haha. It's all in what you want though.

It's all good, I know it's not the best looking kit but I honestly think most of it is you just don't see them on 5.0s very often. Now that I'm used to seeing it it doesn't really look bad or weird to me, just different.

I wasn't expecting so many responses that they like the KB on the 5.0, I figured the complete opposite responses would come.

Maybe I will consider a KB more then!

Who cares what other people say, get what you want and like. Bottom line if you want the highest HP number on the dyno the KB is the wrong choice.

One quick question Oynx,

with a PD blower, stockish motor. and a 5 speed, what would you reccomend for a gear? I have 4.10s currently. Have myself a set of each 2.73, 3.15, and a 3.31. I was thinking a 3.55 would be ideal.

I have 3.73s with my 4.6 4v kb. I get tons of wheel spin, and I think with a 5.0 3.55s might be the best choice. The thing about KBs is that you get so much torque down low in the rev range you dont need big gears to take advantage of the blower.

Personally I feel like kb's make for great fun on the street, but peak power numbers won't be as high as a centri, and traction WILL be a issue too. But I have fun spinning tires through 3rd gear If you plan on running good times at the 1/4 mile I'd invest in some serious drag radials or slicks.

4.10 really is gonna be too much, I'm running 3.55s and find it plenty but I haven't seen any track time either. 3.31 or 3.55s should do you plenty and leave room for future growth.

I'm wondering if I should put a 3.55 or 3.73 in mine now instead of the 3.90
Most likely the car will go like this: TFS H/C/I - Wait - Build shortblock - Wait - Wait - Wait - Boost?

dude with a head/cam/intake setup with possible boost I really don't think you'll find you need 3.90 gears. Depends how quick you want to be at the track I guess.

I'm not going to track it very often. It will be a street car. But that power wont be for a few years so ill just run the 3.90 for now.

Is Kenne Bell the only place to buy the supercharger kit?

the may issue of 5.0 has an article on the kenne bell that you might want to check out.

Thanks for the heads up!

I was thinking about the gear thing and maybe yall can help me figure out what I should do. Should I rock the 3.90s for now or just get 3.55s or 3.73s instead? The car right now just has bolt ons and that's it. The built motor + boost will not be for years so I kind of figured I could rock the 3.90s and then re-gear it later.

don't fear the gear. you may not have to re-gear it later on, depending on your plans, goals, where you make power, and most importantly, how tall of a tire you run.

BUT, my brother's SN is n/a with 300 hp. it has a 3:08 gear, and will spin up to third gear at the track. so don't puss out because you're worried about traction. a properly set up chassis (something my brother does not have!) is what you need to worry about for traction. a gear, from my minimal knowledge of drag racing, is chosen in conjunction with your power band and where you want to be at the end of the track (someone please correct this if I'm mistaken). for the street, none of this matters, you'll have fun with whatever gear you put in. chose what you think you'll like, and chances are, you will.

Right. I mean my buddies 749RWHP GT500 with a built motor and 3.4 Whipple has the exact same rear end I'm putting in my Cobra so I know its been done. I'll just have fun with it.

I had a Kenne Bell on my old 95 GT for about 6 months and was really fun BUT it was a heat pump and had issues with heat soaking. I had the Flowzilla inlet and eventually I took it off to replace it with an S-trim. I ran into some issues where the money for the Vortech was never used to buy another blower. The Kenne Bell was a neat blower but I would go with a centrifugal every time. As far as gears are concerned, I had gotten the 3.27 upgrade option from Ford when the car was ordered since I had an auto. If there was a way for me to replace the M90 on my Regal, I would love to. I could use a Meth kit which will help wonders I am sure.

The car with 3.27's was obnoxious and was more than enough gear guys.

Thanks for the feedback bud.

I was looking and did see some people running FMIC setups with the KB which helped but I know what you mean.
