I want to replace my shocks/struts

car is lowered and i just want to ride better, im sick of bouncing hard on bumps and stuff too.

can anyone chime opinions in, not looking to break the bank either, i can get all 4 corners for less then 400$ on am.

Just looking for a street friendly setup that will feel "tighter"

Tokico blues are very good as far as ride quality. They are soft.

You will probably notice more body roll but it will definitely ride a lot better.

What springs are you running? I had them on my 95 with steeda sports, car rode better than stock. However when I went to sportlines, they were meh. I'd just buy a set of 03/04 bilstein fronts and bilstein rears. I picked up my 04 bilsteins with 25k miles for 150 shipped.

Agreed i got the same deal from someone on SVTP. I picked up the Bilstein HD rears off a member on here for 100 shipped. I have Steeda Rears with Eibach Coilovers up front.

Tokico blues are worse than illuminas man. I have illuminas in my and it's the only thing from good about my set-up. I have stiff H&R race springs in mine and the 5 way adjustable tokicos work great to soften them a bit. And they are great for dragging too!

Had those on my GT and they felt great! Not too stiff and definitely not soft. Mine was only daily driven. Very good shock that made the car feel planted to the ground at all times. I had them with H&R springs though.
HOWEVER, I have them on my Cobra on the front only with eibachs on the rear. After 2 months the Tokico's are blown. They no longer have dampening force. The ride is very uncomfortable and I am very dissapointed. No idea why they are blown. Worst part is I can't get a refund nor exchange because AM only gives a 30 day return policy. They were installed as directed, and I've been installed shocks with no issues before i,e: my GT.

Unfortunately I'm going to have to order some new struts up front. Not sure if I am willing to go Tokico again? I am ordering from AM and don't really want to spend a ton on shocks as it's just a DD, so I'm considering them again. I mean they were perfect on my GT, I might have just gotten a bad pair?

If you want something in the price range of the Tokico Blues, but with near the performance of the Bilsteins, take a peek at the Koni STR.T's. They perform great, are about the same price as the Blues, but outperform and definitely outlast them by a long shot. Sam Strano said they had the performance of the Bilsteins without the price or the ability to be rebuilt, for half the price.

After testing them out on a couple cars, I would have to agree. They perform great.

Yours being blown is not a fluke, it's a common occurrence, they just don't last very long.

Wow those Koni's sound great. If they can perform like Bilsteins than I am sold! I'm looking around on several sites and I don't see those listed. I'll do a google search myself but I'm not too fond of ordering from sites that I don't know or have never heard of. Yah it could be a common occurrence; you get what you pay for. I went the Tokico blues because they were great on my GT! I miss the suspension on it. Sold it to a guy and now he's selling it :(. I think it was you that had mentioned Strange engineering before on another suspension question a long while back; you had good feedback on those. I might order those.

The Koni STR.T's? I found them, I glanced right over them when looking at summits website. Only thing I see now is that they say for GT submodel and don't list them Cobras. Should be the same deal as far as I'm concerned.

Thanks for the direction Bullitt!

I bought a pair of the Koni STR.T's for the back when I sent my Bilsteins in to be rebuilt due to a leak. Once I got the Konis on, I didn't even notice a difference, and I was running very stiff rear springs. So when the Bilsteins got back, they sat in my shop forever until I decided to go drag racing. I installed a set of the struts on a car with H&R Race springs, and they did an awesome job on there as well, so now I recommend them for everyone doing a budget build.

I would still recommend the Bilsteins over them if the budget allows, simply because they can be rebuilt and re-valved, unlike the Koni STR.T's, but that also comes with a large price increase.

When I had bilsteins it felt like I was riding around with no suspension at all.

Rough and bouncy.

I run sportlines and the blues really tamed down the rough/bouncy shit.

I run KYB entry level shocks and struts. I am lowered on a pro kit and overall I am very happy with the feel. I may have missed it on here but I dont think I did, if you are lowered go with shocks/struts for a fox body. They are an inch lower than the sn95's, therefore your shock is not already compressed as much just sitting, therefore allowing it more natural travel while driving. For a daily driver this is the way I would go... thats my 2 cents

The budget is available, but I'm not looking to make a race machine. It's just a fun DD with some occasional racing once in a while. Basically going for 12's NA. I've got the plan all written out on what it is I need to do to get there. But I might replace my rears with Bilsteins since these stupid Eibach pro dampers are bouncy and getting annoying, feels like a honda with cut springs!

Just a quick extra 2 cents-
I am using the "cheaper" KYB Fox Body shocks & struts too. I am extremely happy with the soft, comfortable ride. I know of nothing to compare them to but I am very happy. I'm sure the Blues, or Koni's would be fantastic.
