I wanted to buy the stock struts and shocks out of my friend's old '04 Cobra but from what I found you need to run 03/04 Cobra camber plates to use Bilstein struts.

Who the hell told you that? lol I took great care in double checking everything when putting it together, and it all fit well. They have performed well so far with minimal to no noise at all.

Im going to vouch for the Koni STR.T's.
Had them on my 86 GT with C springs (IIRC). Thing handled awesome, rode nice and best of all are cheap.

Im buying a set for my 94 soon, going with the koni reds!

If you look on Maximum Motorsports website they sell different camber plates and also a different coilover kit for cars that run the 03/04 Cobra bilstein struts.

Hm, odd. The sleeve fit correctly, as did all the top parts. Just like a factory strut would. Granted i'm not running coil overs but in terms of using just factory camber plates it's worked well so far. I wonder why they sell different stuff for it. Didn't seem to out of the ordinary to me.

Had those on my GT and they felt great! Not too stiff and definitely not soft. Mine was only daily driven. Very good shock that made the car feel planted to the ground at all times. I had them with H&R springs though.
HOWEVER, I have them on my Cobra on the front only with eibachs on the rear. After 2 months the Tokico's are blown. They no longer have dampening force. The ride is very uncomfortable and I am very dissapointed. No idea why they are blown. Worst part is I can't get a refund nor exchange because AM only gives a 30 day return policy. They were installed as directed, and I've been installed shocks with no issues before i,e: my GT.

Unfortunately I'm going to have to order some new struts up front. Not sure if I am willing to go Tokico again? I am ordering from AM and don't really want to spend a ton on shocks as it's just a DD, so I'm considering them again. I mean they were perfect on my GT, I might have just gotten a bad pair?

If I were you I wouldn't go to AM really. Just contact Tokico, they probably have a manufacturers warranty on them and they may send you a new pair.

I have the tokico High performance blues and they ride EXCELLENT with my h&r supersports soft enough for the rough street, but stiff enough to take corners. Its like 50/50 balance I love it. I had them paired up with C-springs before the H&R and it was ok because the c-springs were stiff since it was a drag racing spring.

Unfortunately they won't pick up the phone, nor return my messages/voice-mails. I think they actually have a lifetime warranty. I'm stuck ordering new ones, plus bullitt suggested the STR.T's and they have many amazing reviews. I researched those and they sound like what I want. It's an upgrade for me. More money out the door though haha. Cars are expensive wtf?! lol

The only difference between the Bilsteins and stock struts is that the boot is different and the Bilsteins don't use bumpstops. If you read on MM, they tell you what the difference is in the CC Plates, and it's nothing even worth mentioning to be honest. There's no difference between the factory bumpstops on the Termi and the GT.

Ok, next question. is their a huge difference between the fox fronts and the gt fronts..

i know people have said that the 87-93 are better for lowered sn95 cars..

can someone put this theory into more Perspective for me?

The fox strut is physically shorter, so it has better control for the lowered SN95. An SN95 strut will already be compressed more with a lowering spring, which limits the amount it can compress to control the movement.

If you've ever been on corner carvers, the pro racers have very convincing arguments on why NOT to run the Fox strut instead of the SN95, even on a lowered car. I remember reading it a few years ago, and while it goes against conventional logic, they had proof from shock dynos and real hard facts showing why not to use a Fox strut. I've run both and never really noticed a difference either way.

I think as far as stock struts go the Fox ones might be better, but I always figured aftermarket struts for our cars were meant to be on lowered cars. Interesting what the pros said though.

I'd just get the Koni STR.T's for the back. When I swapped my Bilsteins to have them rebuilt and put the Konis on it, I noticed no difference at all between the two, and they actually matched up with my front Cobra Bilsteins pretty well as far as performance goes.

These are Fox struts. I can't imagine some any longer without issues shutting the hood.

The threaded portion isn't what's longer, it's the body and shaft itself that's longer. I set my CC plates up like that by the instructions and then decided that it looked goofy enough that I would give up 1/2" of travel to keep from having that much of the shaft sticking through the hood, so I redid the spacers and added 2 of them to the bottom. Didn't notice a bit of a difference.
