Currently running all stock susp.

I purchased some springs from LMR (sve lowering springs) and now im looking for a decent strut package, that wont kill my pocket.
Something what will work well with the 1.5-2'' drop.

looking to spend $200-$300.

Keep in mind this is for a daily 3.8 coupe. :D

Fox length Tokico HPs are what i'm gonna order next month.

UPR's Strange 10 way adjustable struts are also pretty good i've heard.

Hands down bilstein hd !!!!!!! You can get the fronts off a 03/04 cobra that are take offs around 125-150 shipped. The rears for our SRA I have found for 90 each on eBay. That's the best $$$ you can spend on struts/shocks. I would run them hands down over almost any strut/shock setup. There a monotube also.

^ this is true.. for the money... But it all depends.. the bilsteins offer a better ride for sure. But I would still pick my koni yellows over them for handling.

Either way if you get the HDs, the car will feel sooooo much better

Koni STR.T's are in the same boat as Tokico HP's and I believe are actually a little better. I'll be upgrading to the Koni's when I eventually make up my mind about what springs I want

really you'll stick with a twin tube over a mono tube???.. There is a reason they all run monotube

Shoot I would rather bilstein hd all the way. Same cost and a much better strut/shock ....And use coilovers. If you plan it right you can do it for the same cost of springs and have a much better outcome.

Yes yes I will. Koni Yellows will handle better than Bilstien HDs every day..

bilsteins will give a better ride for a DD

Ok you have it backwards you know that right.

A twin tubes most common use is on cars, light trucks, SUV’s and vans. It’s a cost effective unit that provides excellent handling & control characteristics for most driving conditions. The monotube design offers additional performance and can have a more aggressive ride.

Monotube shocks have been around for many years. the technology has just recently trickled down from F1 through NASCAR to dirt track racing. Many engineers feel that monotube shocks have an advantage, since their larger pistons displace more oil for a given stroke. This is especially true for the rebound stroke. The greater the amount of oil moving through a shock’s piston, the easier it becomes to regulate the flow and thus control the dampening forces of the shock. Monotube shocks are also less prone to fade due to heat. They stay cooler because the piston and oil are in direct contact with the outside wall of the cylinder allowing for better dissipation of heat.
Twin tube shocks use a rupture-prone gas bag to hold the nitrogen. When this bag breaks the nitrogen mixes with the oil making the shock skip as the gas moves through the piston orifices. Bubbling noise can be heard when the shock is actuated by hand.

I almost want to try Bilstiens so I can see what all the damn hype is about. I've heard they can be a little stiff though. I have no complaints with my Tokico Illuminas.

good info for sure man. you are correct in what you said.. But i was just comparing the 2, HDs and Yellows, not every dual and monotube.

But alas. Neither will perform or ride to its full potential without being paired well enough with the right springs and all.

I know this will be a odd comparison and kinda apples to oranges.... Back when I owned MR2's I ran the illumina and loved it. Now that I have run the Bilstein HD on my old 94 and feel it would have outhandled the illumia as a struts/shocks platform. I felt i had more responsive ness with the Bilstein and I'm going to run it again on this 95.

Not trying to hijack, but if someone had more interest in ride comfort than hot rod style handling, then a twin tube shock might be the way to go?

I wasn't taking about the Yellows, just the Koni STR.t's. I'd love to get Koni Yellows(adjustable) or Bilsteins, just can't convince myself to spend that kinda $$ on it.

Well see its odd twin tubes don't do well with a higher spring rate. Bilstein has a patent on there digressive valving. So that is why you can use a Bilstein on the road....
