Hello all, This would be my first thread started on here so bare with me. I bought this car the end of September of last year. The car I had previous to that was a built and supercharged 00 gt. Was a great car but my love for sn95's slowly got the better of me and here I am now. The car when purchased started out with a dss 331 stroker, trickflow heads, TF stg2 cam, and about every other bolt on.
The day I picked it up....
First thing I did was get the car looking how I wanted. I loved the hood but thought the bumper and tail could use some work.
Mach1 Chin and Saleen Spoiler installed...(spoiler is'nt mounted all the way yet)
I didnt intentionally buy this car to build it even more but after driving my last stang which made 511rw, the need for speed took over. I at first new I wanted to go turbo mainly because I havnt done one before and really didnt have that much knowledge of them. I have installed two superchargers, roots and centrificull styles, so this was a good change of pace. The 5.0 platform had a variety of different turbo systems to choose from, and I'm glad they did because I was on a somewhat tight budget (Full time college student as well as full time employment) yata yata yata.... Anyway it came down to the Boost brothers kit and On3. I had my heart set on the On3 because I heard they had great customer service and their price wasnt far off from the BB kit. Instead I had a boost brothers kit fall into my lap for a pretty damn good deal so I couldnt resist.
Tear down process......
Cleaned up and resprayed the SVO upper manifold.....
Turbo is in. Mock up begins.....
Picked these up for 400 bucks w/ brand new tires all the way around....
Heres some pics during the hot-piping mock ups everything went pretty smoothley but for anyone else installing this kit with a maximum motorsports tubular k-member, you will have to space the motor up on the driver side almost 3/4 of an inch to clear room for the header.
Here's the spacers I had to make on the driver side K-member in order to allow the header to fit...
Heat wrap is comleted. Strongly reccomended as under hood temps are gonna get intense, expecially around your plug wires....
Painted the alternator 5+ hp im sure lol
Recieved the new injectors.... Siemans Deka 60lb inj
Installed upper intake, and completed all of the cold piping.....
You can easily see here that its necissary for me to have a cowl hood lol
Intercooler sits even with the bottom bumper support...
Welp thats pretty much as far as I am now. I still need to a Mega Squirt Ecu, Fuel pump and the rest of my gauges. If anyone can give me some tips with the megasquirt tuning I would really appreciate it, its all new to me. Thanks for looking and I'll keep this updated.
