Seeing the damage micro BB's did to 7 pistons I wasn't taking a chance. Now maybe I can finish the exhaust system.

The setup you have now is the npi heads with the welded chambers and big valves, and your old iron block, right?

You have any plans to get this one on the dyno after its all sorted out?

Yes, you are right the CR is now 14.725. I put in the solid MM engine mounts and now I have to learn all the new noises and vibrations, the car shakes at an idle of 850 RPM but the engine is quiet, no chain slap, lasher tick, just some clicking from the 6 pintle skinny type 24 pound injectors. 50 miles on it so far. Time to retorque all the fasters.

Awesome. I hope it all works out this go around. You deserve a solid setup with all the headache youve been through.

I don’t know about the mod motors but every vehicle I’ve ever been in with built motors and solid mounts always had a slight vibration somewhere in the rpms. Kind of the nature of the beast.

^ pretty much.

All engines produce vibrations or you can say harmonics through the chassis.

Shoot, i love solid engine mounts in my racecar.

Yeah they nailed it. I remember a sort of resonating vibration but I cant remember what the rpm was. I havent driven it in a few months. When its in neutral, revving it is smooth though.

The rpm at which you feel the vibrations is usually determined by cam profile from my experience.

I'm wondering because Mercedes Benz has a vibration at 2500 RPM in their V8's also and I do not know enough about 1st. 2nd. and 3rd. harmonics to know if 2500 is the cross over for all 3 at the same time in 90 degree V8's?

Ive noticed my exhaust note changes at 2500, I think you might be on to something there.

I have a 1st order shake at idle that rocks the whole car back and forth sideways when sitting at a stop light. People stare going WTF?

My best friend use to have an 85 ranger with a Chevy 383 stroker motor. Big wickedly wild cam, Pete Jackson gear drive, and super solid bottom end. It had solid mounts and sitting at idle it shook so freakin hard. People use to give us funny looks all the time. That truck was a blast but after a while it was uncomfortable between the vibration and the super loud gear drive.

You’d think he learned his lesson but now has a 63 nova with a blown big block with solid mounts.

It Is Done. Runs smooth, sounds great. I put Ford Bullitt mufflers on it and the cam makes them sound perfect, kind of quiet but nasty under power, very unique sounding. So this build thread is FINISHED! Time to jack it up and put some snow tires on it and go RallyCross and beat up on Subaru. I will start a new thread in the racing section... stay tuned.

You have cobra front brakes on the rear of your car? How’d you do that? Are you planning to get it up on the dyno?

Im really happy that this one is working out for you. Now go enjoy it!

Go to the top of the page and hit the FTR logo and talk to Pete.
Dyno? Maybe, the tune is good now. The last time we got to 5700 RPM and the TF head broke a valve guide at 286 RWHP so now with the nPI heads and 14.7 CR i do not know what
